I'm not sure I enjoy this, but I can't avoid admiring it!  Even for a theatre organist this is mighty virtuoso stuff (and it's actually a church organ being played!).

Cameron Carpenter plays Sleigh Ride

Note that for the greater part of this he is playing the tune with his right foot (only) while the left foot plays the bass, and his two hands are occupied with (often) three of the manuals (all four at once briefly at 0'30") and also buttons for the percussion.

Are those special shoes for this kind of playing? Amazing.

I don't think the glitter on them is standard.  Think the Liberace of the organ!

But organists do frequently have special shoes (Google organ-master shoes); they tend to be a bit like dancing shoes, as I understand it - they have suede soles and a somewhat built-up heel.  This enables smooth sliding along the keys, and the player can also press down two non-adjacent pedals, as in the four-note chord he plays on the pedals at the end of that clip.

I'm always amazed at good drummers who can do so much independently with both hands and feet. But they aren't utilizing their fingers and typically don't have to move feet so wildly. That guy on the organ makes my Roland MC-808 look like a speak-n-spell.

A local band that I've talked about in my youtube thread, Musical Charis, has just made a really fun videos of their song East West. Water balloon mayhem and goldfish swimming in glass tubes, what could be better?

It's not about liking this video or making ridicule of it but this is a well known singer in holland. Singer Rinus, who is a bit retarted or mentally under the norm :X He now has an English song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=9KzOZPRv5rs

I have to disagree. Liberace was good on the piano, but he sucked on the organ.

...

That said, here's a video of Carol of the Bells, arranged for 12 Cellos. Damn.

Gotye's "Somebody I Used To Know" and covers of the song are getting a lot of attention, but I only just noticed another video they have for "Bronte", and the animation and story are just heartachingly beautiful. Right out of Miyazaki.

This is about a minute of one of our songs, from an apt in Queens. Drums provided by $20 mp3 player plugged into PC speakers.

In my opinion, it's one of the best vocaloid english covers I've heard in quite a while.

Hmm. Not sure if off topic, but a bit curious if people have favorite channels with rotating artists? e.g. le cargo ( http://youtu.be/Qvd9EfRdgWQ ) or black cab sessions ( https://www.youtube.com/topic/6M3UWPnXfW8/black-cab-sessions )

So, ten years ago this guy made a pretty fun award-winning video mashup of FLCL to Deep Purple's song Speed King:

Chelsea Wolfe with one of those "impromptu" acoustic sessions performing a beautiful rendition of a new song "Flatlands".

In general, I really like these semi-offbeat performances that the various music sites and blogs do with artists. It's something that I'd like to add to my own video repertoire at some point.

I just heard this play on the radio and my brain melted.  West coast indie folk at it's best.

I was checking out a friend's latest Soundcloud upload, and one of the recommended songs below it played after it and I just found a new act to obsess over for a few days. Has that brooding darkness that I really like in music sometimes, even when it doesn't reflect my real-life moods. I love when the internet breadcrumb trail leads to stuff like this. :-)

This was the song by Daughter out of London that caught my ear. This upload to YouTube also shows how to do a slideshow/lyric video the right way.

And this is an official video for a new song coming out soon on their first album.

Edit: Full live performance.

I really love this video for Nightwish's "Creek Mary's Blood" well it's not really a music video per say... but it's really pretty!
I built the walls that make my life a prison, I built them all and cannot be forgiven... ...Sold my soul to carry your vendetta, So let me go before you can regret it, You've made your choice and now it's come to this, But that's price you pay when you're a monster with no name.
