Halo 3
messeduplilkid:
Jiperlee: Sorry worded it wrong, its an Alternate Reality Game, as it is called.
Catfish_Man:
buzz buzz
I remember when ILB took over a few IRC channels I was on... interesting stuff.

Why the hate for halo 1s multiplayer. It is the most played multiplayer game apart from SSBM when people come over. DOn't know why people think it's nothing special.
And if anyone wants to listen to the ILB .mp3s, they're here;

Some of the best voice acting I have ever heard, and a really compelling story.

Because Halo 1 was full of a bunch of broken weapons which became very apparent in multiplayer. The Machine Gun was harder to kill with than just made charges with beatdowns. The Pistol could snipe, SNIPE from across the map. The Shotgun was just rediculously overpowered.
And on a 4 player match. I am stating right now, lan games are quite difficult to get started and I am not going to include them in my unfavourable review. On a 4 player match, the rediculously over powered weapons are made even more apparent since if you have the Shotgun or Pistol, its safe to assume no one else does, and 3 people with inferior weapons arent enough to beat one person jacked to the nines.
But in Halo 2, you have Xbox live, which means you have 8-32 people playing where having the upper hand(Sword, Shotty, etc) doesnt mean so much since you will be everyones first targer and theres alot more people to shoot you with. They did a TONNE of balancing that was missing from Halo 1, and makes the game more fun to play multiplayer in every way.
Now if your hungup on the single player aspects. Lets face it. Its not all that much fun on consecutive plays. But at least Halo 2 has a chapter system going for it, so you can start at your favourite spots and not have to replay all the same shit over again just to get to the best parts. But wait, the best parts of Halo 1 are at the begining, because towards the end, all the mind numbingly dull convenant ships are just the same old shit over and over again.
So, in summation, if you liked Halo 1 more, you are either one of those lame babies who need a broken weapon(Pistol, or Shotty). Or just dont know how to properly play Halo 2 to reflect how much more badass it is. Also if you dont have XBox Live!, you probably live in a 3rd world country where Xbox Live isnt availiable, not to mention DSL/Cable. The only other explantion is, your wasting the Xbox's flavour. And if your doing that, you dont really deserve to play it, Xbox Live! has done more to build the framework for console online play than anything, and by not supporting it, you are hurting the innovation it represents.
SilkyNumbNuts:
fair enough, iof that's your opinion, but that was never my experience.
TO be fair, I think it's because I never really played against someone who was as good as me (I'm not boasting, I just played a lot, and they didn't. I'm not all that good really). SO things like that didn't become apparent.
But if everyone starts with a pistol, you have a much more even match.
I loved the times with halo 1's multiplayer, but generally I wasn't playing as well as I could have, most of the time I would take the piss with what I'd do.
The singleplayer of halo 1 is about the only game I can replay again and again and still love it. Halo 2 really didn't hold a candle to it in single player.
To each their own I suppose.
