Are you sure? I haven't played Ocarina in years, but I could have sworn I saw Sheik referred to as a 'he'. Maybe that was online somewhere in a manner intended to obscure spoilers. In any case, this is all irrelevant.

All three SSB:M trophies refer to Sheik as "she".

Wait, the player is supposed to think Sheik is a guy in Ocarina? Really?
Cause I always thought she was a she.

I think those of us more accustomed to the femininity of male protagonists in Japanese games thought Sheik was male initially. I know I did.
Jackie Blue:
Well I'm accustomed to bishi boys in games, but not Nintendo games, and it never occurred to me to even doubt Sheik was a chick.
If she had been in a Final Fantasy game, I can see your point.
