It just seems like that to me. I mean, It seems like Super Smash Bros melee had a larger variety of levels (Except that my douchebag of a friend forced me to play the link level OVER and OVER)

the first smash bros had the 3-platform thing going on REALLY bad. all of the stages were the same. In Melee the levels got more complex and Brawl looks like it's gonna multiply that complexity by 10. I'm totally stoked, expecaully sense I'm getting a Wii in January.

I love the fact they're adding in destructible levels. I can't imagine just how awesome it will feel to be fighting around the Greek statues smashing them to pieces while your brawling around the stage.

Today's update was Ike's Final Smash... Too bad we already heard about that if you paid attention to all the E For All Impressions. :P

And this is kinda random, but does anybody happen to play Smash Bros 64 still? Like.. Emulating and whatnot? I need somebody to play against.. :(

I'll take you on if you can point me to an N64 emulator that has it. I promise you though you'll have a run for your money. Smash Bros is MY game man.

Psh, we'll see about that. If you haven't been playing online for awhile, you're probably not quite expecting the amount of skill that is shown there. It's crazy.

And tonight's update was Multiple Taunts... Which was already known.

Are you kidding me? It's so much better this way! In the only system, you couldn't KILL somebody if you had a handicap of 1, and they had 9.

And a single (weak) hit would send you flying. It was a terrible, terrible system. All it did was force the handicapped player to do hit and runs until they could get the other player to actually be stunned after an attack. This way, the game will actually still play fairly, while it uh... Necessary.

Today's update was Meta Knight focused, with his special moves and theme music. I'd like to reiterate for the record how fucking awesome this game's music is. Seriously.

I might change the grab button from Z on the Gamecube controller because that button is a pain in the ass.

I actually didnt think that the z button was that bad.  The z buttons on the classic controller look like they are a bit more out of reach though.

Im still wondering why they dont include anything from the Metroid Prime games.  I would have expected them to include the Chozo Ruins or something from the first one. But nay.

I fully expect to see a Prime level by the final unveiling.

Possibly the Phazon Mines from Prime 1 or the Luminoth Sanctuary Fortress from Prime 2.

no offense but the DK rap was gay as hell dude. And after playing the game like countless times, it becomes one of those annoying songs that you just wish for the life of you you could get out of your head. Kind of like the crazy frog songs. :|

Well we finally got a view of the Character selection screen

Hmmm...there's not much room for unlockable characters .... wait where's Kirby ... and Wario... there's heaps of characters not there.

That's the select screen from the demo version that was at the Wii for All event, as is the stage select screen in the next shot.  Don't bug, it just means there's certain things they still want to keep under wraps.

So? I noticed with Twilight Princess they no longer just have empty boxes for items you miss etc. I reckon for the unlockable characters their portrait will just appear next to the current ones as in Melee.

It's a shame Nintendo is being lazy once again and screwing Europe fanbase with another postponed release of 6 fucking months. It's not as if there is much localization work to be done.

on the bright side though, the longer we wait, the better off the game probably will be because it'll give them more time to work with it.

There are so many features and modes in this game. It's insane. I wouldn't be surprised if every update from now until the release date was a "Game Mode" update.

And change exactly what?

No patching, and there is online play. Don't expect any balance fixes, and I doubt there would be annoying animation/menu bugs or extra features in this release. This is all just lazy localization.

So Waluigi's in as an Assist Trophy, which means he won't be a playable character. Kind of a shame, I would have liked to see his moveset.

Personally I have always found Wario and Waluigi to be extremely irritating, and I am kind of happy that Waluigi isnt a playable character. But thats just me.
There is always just something off about those two.  Maybe its the fact that they cant seem to close their mouths at all, ever. They are always bearing their teeth. Or maybe its because they really couldnt think of any better a name than Waluigi.  I mean come on, Waluigi? Really?

That's kind of the whole point of the teeth thing. Toothless and tight lipped smiles are the norm in japanese comics and box art, at least with sane characters. Big, toothy grins and baring your teeth all the time are reserved for maniacs, which definitely suits Wario and Waluigi.

And yeah, I hate them too.

Plus, I think I read somewhere that the prefix wa- in Japanese means 'bad'. Thus, that's where the names came from.

Wario is a contraction of warui (meaning evil) and mario.
waruiji means bad boy. And to English people (who don't get the pun) it sounds like they just were lazy with waluigi. Everybody wins.

waluigi is great! my buddy dressed up as Waluigi for halloween, mostly as an excuse to twist his mustache while yelling "waaaaaaaaaaaaa!"

The original Super Smash Bros for 64 is one of my favorite games of all time. I still play it on a regular basis; my brother bought it and a used n64 from a garage sale and the machine never gets turned off in his dorm room. Any time I go visit him, we spend more time playing Super Smash than doing anything else. I was disappointed by Melee, I can't exactly say why. I only played it a handful of times, but something about it just didn't capture the greatness of the 1st one, but maybe I just didn't really give it a chance. I hope this one ends up being pretty good, but no one I know has a Wii anyways, so I dunno if I'll ever even get a chance to play it.

Um... Melee was really superior to the original in every possible way. Not to say the original was bad or anything, but they really just added a ton of stuff to the sequel as well as refining what already existed.

Agreed.

I am so happy that they finally added something from prime! I was waiting for them to do that.
Its really all I have to go on with the Metroid series,  I never got a chance to play the 2D versions, I didnt own a SNES or anything.
I really want to buy it for the Virtual console but then I need to buy the classic controller too.
