Thinking of a new computer...

some people seem to stated that the AMD processor is faster for the price than the Intel counterpart.

This is definitely true until Core 2 comes out over the next few months. If you can wait, it'll probably be worthwhile. If not, get AMD.

Actually, I despise AMD. I work at a small computer shop, and nine times out of ten processor failure problems are AMD. It was so bad that we've basically moved everything to Intel unless the customer insists on AMD.
greenMonkey:
I have Intel, but I've got several friends that swear by their AMD's. If you know how to overclock, get a Pentium D 820. Toms Hardware overclocked it to 4.3GHZ, and it runs steady at 4.1GHZ.

www.tigerdirect.comis also good.

Asus mobos are good, so are Gigabyte. For the processor I would recommend an AMD. I have been using AMD for well over 6 years(I think) now and have never had a problem. In my experence they are both faster and cheaper then Intel CPUs. I have an AMD 64bit 3500+ in my computer and it works great. I am running FEAR at 1280x720 with the settings maxed out and getting 30-80 fps this is on a 7600 GTX GPU.
