3d modeling/animation?

I toyed around with max, then Maya, then Blender (when I had to format and lost my pirated maya discs). Maya is my tool of choice, followed by Blender which works pretty similarly.

I kinda drifted off when I couldn't find much documentation about renderers and how they work and how to bend them to my will.
