Underoath- Young and Aspiring

On constant repeat. I have to learn it for band practice tonight. It's not very good.

Dude, if your band is playing Underoath your need to seriously rethink your musical direction.

Sopor Aeternus & The Ensemble of Shadows - Hades Pluton

Man, I'm depressed, and maybe this is not the best musical choice.

"No! no! no! Put an end to the show!
I'm going back to the land where the bone-flowers grow,
to "the wild, weird clime that lieth, sublime,
out of Space and out of Time" ...

See the shape, but can't see through,
no-one can ever hate me as well as I do.
Know when to throw a laugh,
know how to force a smile,
whatever the intention ...
 I'm such a "friendly" lie!"

I'm going through some cds I haven't heard for ages, and I'm loving this 70s songs cd. Especially this song "I hate the music" by John Paul Young. It's a nice concept for a song, (that he used to love music but wasn't good at it, then she helped him with it... then they broke up and now he hates music because it just reminds him of her) and I always *always* love a catchy, enthusiastic, piano backing. It just makes me want to dance...

Botch - We Are The Romans.  This is pretty much a definitive release as far as "mathcore" is concerned; I'd say as important for the genre as what Dillinger Escape Plan's "Calculating Infinity" was, and this actually has some song structure to it.  The "hidden" electronica/techno track at the end is a nice bonus too.

Trivia time:  There is a song on this album titled "Man The Ramparts."  The band, in the commentary track to the dvd released last year, acknowledges that they often referred to the song by its 'joke title,' "Ram The Man-Parts."  A subtle, yet oh-so-effective change that will help explain why if I ever get around to making a mix cd for Tyler, this song will be included. (It's not just a song, it's an invitation)

I'm not sure why, but the vocals on this song distantly remind me of the sneered parts of Pink Floyd's The Wall. Interpret that as you will, Mr Tibet.

Fair enough. The connection in my mind was vague as anything at best, anyway.

Now listening to some East German punk. Die Anderen - Berlin Radio - "Berlin". I really dig the bass part to this song, good stuff.

I love that album because of how strange and utterly beautiful it is. Egowar is tremendous. Reminds me of the finnish band Paavoharju.

NH: !!! - Myth Takes

A promo. The political activism seems to be gone and with that some of their edge. Still sounds great though.

The Bronx - The Bronx I.  Since these guys are tremendously inventive and have self-titled BOTH of their full length releases, I guess we're now referring to them by Roman numerals?  I was rocking the 2003 release that they put out on Ferret Records, sometimes mistakenly referred to as the "White Drugs" album.  Good, high octane dirty-ass riff rock, which sounds to me not at all unlike a newer, fresher, angrier AC/DC.  Good stuff.

I love that some too. Best song of that albumn in my opinion. That's the song that got me into CoF.

I"m listening to "Bullet With a Name" by Nonpoint at th moment. It's catchy for a heavy song.

As I typed that the song finished. I'm now listening to "Because of You" by Kelly Clarkson. My manhood feels shamed.
