The Church - Night Of Light

Delightful CD this. I can't for the life of me remember why I downloaded it; I read about it somewhere on the internet a few days ago and it just popped into my head last night that I was going to download some Church. Gonna have to look into the rest of their discog now 'cos this is really quite ace.

Twist In My Sobriety - Tanita Tikaram

I love love love that she sings "You know you'll never be / more than twist in my sobriety" rather than "a twist in my sobriety".  I love unexpected / uncommon usages of words like that.  Always makes me do a sort of aural double-take.  It feels good.

This song makes me happy inside, because of the sheer randomness.  Speaking of KKK, Johnny Rebel makes me cry.

Where'd that come from?

Some boring rock on the radio. I hear guitars, and drums and some guy singing. It started a little slow and then went fast and loud and kinda heavy but not so much that it warrants the term. The singing goes more toward screaming but also not quite so much that you'd call it that. It does that maybe 3 times and then they do the loud bit twice in a row and end on some chord on the guitar being left to dwindle on it's own.

Pig Destroyer - "Starbelly" from Prowler In The Yard.  This is one of the saddest songs lyrically that I've ever heard:

Quote
Dear everything.
Today I witnessed a crucifixion in pink and lavender and gold.
I've heard people say that beauty is in details,
but I don't think they have ever seen you.
There were mortal wounds inflicted on the sky
and incrminating blue stains on my shirt.
The shirt you bought for me.
Christ it hurts.
Like stars in my belly going supernova.
I feel like a zombie that refuses to live.
Haunting the junkyards and cutting myself on scraps of you.
The other day I masturbated to pictures of you at your birthday party.
They were the only ones I still had.
It felt so wrong, just like my life.
I hope I'm dead by the time you read this. I love you.

The For Carnation - Snoother

I could never explain why I think this song is about 50 times better than anything else these guys did, but I love it, and nothing else.  I think the Slint-connected guy plays guitar on the last track of the Dntel album from memory?

Nargaroth - Pisen Pro Satana

which translates to "A Song for Satan"

yes it's a cover but it kick's arse, it's almost the exact same riff as Burzum's "War" (the rumor is Varg stole the song from Root) all it's missing is the guitar solo...

DMST are pretty great.  I have & Yet & Yet as well as Winter Hymn Country Hymn Secret Hymn.  The track Fredricia off of WHCHSH is amazing.

Fugazi - Merchandise

I'm going through listening to the Fugazi albums in order so that I can get a better idea of how their sound evolved.  I actually started with the Minor Threat complete discography, and then did 13 Songs.  Halfway through Repeater + 3 Songs right now.

A great song! and Ege Bamyasi is a pretty good album. The 10 min. Soup doesn't work all that well but the rest is proof that krautrock can be catchy and accessible without compromising :-)

I know what you mean. It's not Red Medicine or Reapeter (or End Hits, for that matter), but it's a good album. KYEO is one of my favorite Fugazi songs, actually.
