Ted Leo / Pharmacists - Who Do You Love?

The new CD might well be his best work. I wasn't convinced to start with, but it grows with every damn listen. It's as ludicrously catchy as the better bits of Shake The Sheets, with masterful songwriting on a par with Tyranny... and more variety than any of their albums to date (except that freaky first one). Fuckin' ace.

Dalek - Abandoned Language.  I've been meaning to check this guy out for quite a while, ever since hearing his work on the Isis "Oceanin" remixes. I've since proceeded to download his whole back catalog, and will be buying this cd when it's properly released.

Jim Noir- "Turn Your Frown Into a Smile"

I threw it on shuffle, and this is what came up. Pretty much it's a fun song. It does make you smile.

I can't remember if I've listened to Shostakovich's 5th, but his 4th is one of the best pieces I've ever heard.

Currently listening to American Nightmare - Background Music.  I LOVE Wes Eisold's lyrics.

It's a quote from the show. The lead singer of the band summons a troll which destroys finland. He gets depressed and needs a drink. 100 drinks :)

here's the episode:

he almost ruined a perfectly good album but his voice started growing on me and i'm hating myself for it

D?lek are actually a duo comprised of the rapper D?lek(which is a bit confusing) and the DJ Oktopus. I think Absence is a masterpiece of Avant Garde hiphop and one of the few albums involving rap that has made any lasting impression on me. I pre-ordered Abandoned Language of course. I got the impression from the tracks on their website that it is more subdued compared to Absence?

have no idea what genre of music it falls into or if its an acceptable genre of music to forum majority, but at the moment i'm listening to a song called MIA by Avenged Sevenfold. A7X is one of my favorite bands right now, and the song has good lyrics in my opinion.
Judge me i'm curious to see wha tyou think of this song and/or band. :)

Asobi Seksu - "Thursday"

i love this song to no end.

I just saw them play last week. They were so extremely perfectly tight and explosive. They made the headliner (the ataris) look like amatuers. Best $15 bucks i've spent in a while. This song also just made it onto a mix i'm giving someone.

It is not as heavy as I would have thought but it is quite good indeed. Perhaps it is because it is so shamelessly melodic at the same time.
The bleak artwork compliments the music perfectly.

LB: Funkadelic - Uncle Jam Wants You
LN: Ulver - Nattens Madrigal

Talk about contrasts. Uncle Jam Wants You is silly funky disco and Nattens Madrigal is evil spiritual black metal.
The latter is the best but there is some dynamite female singing on the former.

Write now I created a small playlist that has these bands/artists in it:

Voxtrot
hellogoodbye
The Zutons
The Honorary Title
The Strokes
Muse
Sufjan Stevens
Motion City Soundtrack
Harvey Danger
Wolf Parade
Snow Patrol
Third Eye Blind

Off that list, I'm on the All Of Your Love song by hellogoodbye. I chose these bands because the tone of their music, not so much the lyrics, kind of give a glimpse into the tone of my personality. Just like any great personality, it varies in subjects, just like the bands I listed. Which is why I made the particular playlist.

Have I mentioned how good Buck 65's Secret House Against the World is around here before? It's a pretty lonely album; there isn't a song about another person on the album yet it doesn't feel self centred. It tells stories, sometimes explicitly and sometimes not so much. It also rocks out in places. Probably one of my favourite albums.
