Therion - In Remembrance

This is the live version from 2004 on the Celebrators of Becoming boxset, during the introduction Cristoffer mentions they haven't played this song since it was recorded for A'arab Zaraq Lucid Dreaming in 1997, I have a feeling its  because he never had a tallented enough band with him to pull it off, I'm glad he waited, this version seriously kicks arse and Kristian Niemann absolutely nails it...

Draconian age, Typhonic dream
Nuit lead the qliphotic stream
The depths in mind where visions dwell
Projections of an open shell

Into aeons of the dark supreme
A ride on the qliphotic stream
Demonic queen, the whore of Babylon
The one who rides To Mega Therion

Into remembrance we transcend...

Have any of you heard of Buddy Wakefield? He's a spoken word artist that I discovered through Sage Francis' site, he's really incredible. I've been listening to his last album "Run On Anything" and it is amazing.

McTaggert, I just now noticed that Buck 65 is going to be on tour with Sage Francis and Buddy Wakefield this spring...I am going to do everything in my power to go to one of these shows.

Monster Movie - Vertical Planes

"Serenades" and "A Fine Day to Exit" are my favorite Anathema albums, I think they may have a new album comming out later this year. I noticed on there website that Lee Douglas is listed as an "official" member now too which is kind of cool, since I think she has a very nice voice.

Windir - 1184

Yeah, when I saw them live they did the two new songs (both with her on vocals) and 'A Natural Disaster' which seems to be a mainstay of the setlist now, so she's here to stay. Fuckin' fantastic voice on her so this can only mean good things for the new CD. Woop woop.

Quote from: The Seattle Stranger
Lungfish are unlike anything you'll soon witness again. A barrel-chested, heavily bearded, full-grown man deep in the throes of a shamanistic reverie, Higgs conducts himself more like a crazed prophet/poet from another dimension than a rock performer. Ferocious and otherworldly on stage, he's covered in tattoos from earlobes to ankles, and often labors in at least two pairs of pants, three or four shirts, a sweater, suit jacket, and work boots. Part Old Testament harbinger of the Apocalypse, and part physician's encyclopedia, he'll shed light on everything that's ever intrigued and terrified you. The band barely moves behind Higgs as his eyes roll back in his head and oceans of sweat froth from his beard, as he alternately shadowboxes or attempts to pull his own tongue out. I've observed him break a mic stand in half while screeching, "I beseech your long locust leg/Lust against a cloak of organs!... I beseech your secret number and name/the power of a single dollar/the power of the pinky finger!... wages of sin!... wages of sin!!!" And during a show at Brownies in NYC, two friends swear they saw him stab himself in the forehead with a safety pin and then eat a pen.

Cheers for the tip. I just picked up Unanimous Hour and got Space Orgy on, this is... interesting. His voice is strangely addictive.

Coming Undone by Korn.

Before I ripped this CD from my sister, I hadn't ever really listened to Korn before... I'm still not sure if I want to listen to Korn... But this CD is rather addictive.

i've been suffocated by winter depression for the last few monthes and this stupid boy had me questioning my sexuality (a girl that likes girls, oh no!) and then i found out he was just a womanizer and it brought me down more. so i've been listening to really fast "feel good" music for the last few weeks trying to get out of the funk. it's working! this playlist includes: blatz, leftover crack, bratmobile, the peechees, le tigre, joan jett, and kimya dawson. "not in dog years" by bratmobile, "the competition" by kimya dawson, "keep on livin'" by le tigre, "bad reputation" by joan jett, and "learning how to smile" by blatz fit with the mood the most.

I get to see TV on the Radio tonight!  I am super pumped about it, I havent been to a show other than my friends bands in a good year.

I hope they play Staring at the Sun, nothing beats a song that could either be about sex or death depending on how you feel at the time :).

Listening to The Road Home by Naked.
They were a lucky find in a 99 Cent bin at FYE (a music store...no idea what it stands for, or if it even exists outside of WI), that I got for a mere quarter --yay! I was saddened to find out that (I'm pretty sure) they only ever put out one album.

The Cruxshadows - Sophia (Radio edit)

Normally, I can't stand the Cruxshadows bar a very select number of their songs. I just find them a bit too pretentious and serious for my liking. This song's actually pretty catchy, though.

Yeah, the Cruxshadows are really good, but they get silly if taken too seriously. Really fuckin' fun live though.

Drudkh - When The Flame Turns To Ashes

Ukrainian prog metal band, they remind me a bit of a heavier Opeth with fuzzier production. Epic.

Drudkh are fucking awesome, Autumn Aurora is a masterpeice. That whole Ukranian scene is really interesting with bands like Nokturnal Mortum, Astrofaes etc, some of the politics are a bit questionable but the music is all really good.

If you like them check out the newer stuff from Graveland, from "Fire of Awakening" onwards (if you haven't allready) a bit similar in style and just as good imo.

currently listening too Borknagar - Acclimation

Julian Kytasty - Black Sea Winds

Ukrainian folk stuff now, woop.

They come across as being a band that would have a whole bucketload of awesome energy live.

Yeah, Rogue is brilliant live. He wears a cordless mic/headset thing and roams around the crowd + the venue while he sings, he just can't stay still. Pretty cool to be dancin' along to a song in the middle of the crowd only to have the singer pop up outta nowhere and sing a couple of lines right in your face. He also climbs things, he'll go right up to the roof (singing all the time) if there's suitable lighting rigs or whatever to be monkey'd up. Love it.

I listened to 'In The Glare Of Burning Churches' a couple of times (just 'cos of the name, hah) and it struck me as a bit poor, my housemate also informs me that the newer stuff is classy though so I'll give 'em a bash again, cheers.

Since you're listening to it, what did you think of the acoustic Borknagar CD?

Year Glare of Burning Churches is their old old stuff, very raw, I think "Thousands Swords" or "Following the Voice of Blood" are their best albums they're from there middle period, the newer couple of albums are very folk/pagan influenced, quite Mellow compared with their early stuff.

As for Origin, hmm I quite like it actually a few of my friends can't stand it, I'll agree with them that it has a few weakish moments but overall I don't think it's all that bad.

Countess - Full Moon Baptism

very nice raw BM.

I really like Origin, it's not as consistent as their RARGH albums but it's got some winning tunes on it nonetheless.

Awesome metal bands doing acousticy albums make me happy. Listening to Drudkh's "Tears Of Gods" from Songs Of Grief And Solitude now, love it. This band have got a really impressive work-rate, one album or more every year.
