As for what I've been listening to.. Portishead - Dummy. Pretty solid album, IMO.

"It's a Mistake" By Men at Work.

Im frustrated that many people often only associate Men at Work with just "Down Under". Colin Hay was an incredible song writer,a nd never got his time in the spotlight like he deserved.

That's probably the best song they ever did, if you ask me.

"#9 Dream" - John Lennon

This might be the only song of his where I think his producer didn't need a severe beating. The only exception is the second appearance of Yoko whispering "John," except this second time it's been reversed.

It's very, very good, but I'd have to say it's not quite as amazing as A Celebration of Guilt.

"Date With Ikea" - Pavement

I love these guys so very very much. This song is one of the things that makes me want to get a 12-string, too, since the riff he's playing and the effect he uses makes it sound kindof like he's using one, even if it's not really the case. 12-strings make for some beautiful guitar runs.

Immortal - Moonrise Fields of Sorrow

I love this song so much, just the shear overblown "Immortalness" of it all, the drums are mixed so high, you struggle to hear any of the other instruments and they're just pounding away as fast as possible, it would seem absolutely ridiculous if anyone else tried it. Then you strain your ears and in the background Demonaz is just shredding it up playing insanely fast, and with Abbath snarling over the top it just works.

Jag Panzer - Frozen in Fear

Another nightmare, she prays her soul to keep
Cold hand that touches her as she pretends to sleep

Blood turns to ice when he's near
No one believes as she lays awake
Each night frozen in fear

love the guitar solo in this song. Lyrics are pretty dark though...

Ted Leo - Little Dawn

Been on another massive TL/Rx kick recently, downloaded a few EPs and splits for the sake of completing the collection... the full band version of 'Loyal To My Sorrowful Country' from the split with Blueline Medic is already one of my favourite Ted tunes. Wicked.

Back to 'Shake The Sheets' for now though.

Samael - Promised Land

The new album does indeed kick arse,

It's almost the perfect combination of Passage, Eternal and Reign of Light

Best tracks on it imo are:  Western Ground / Suspended Time / Quasar Waves

whole thing is pretty good though.

After playing it a couple of times it might well be my favourite already. New CD-age inspired me to bust out Eternal for old time's sake and this one just blows it clean outta the water. 'Promised Land' is a beast of a song. Awesome vocals too. They've finally hit the perfect balance of keyboard hits and chunky riffs, it's one hell of a CD.

Listening through again, I'm on 'Western Ground' at the mo.

I've just been watching the Black Trip DVD, which is from the Exodus / Eternal Tour and these new songs are going to kill live, I envy anyone going to see them, especially if it's a Wakken, that performance will kill...

and yeah I agree with you on the vocals, I think Vorphs voice has gotten a lot better as Samael has progressed.

Nadja- Stays Demons.

If any of you want a band that sounds exactly like Jesu's S/t, get Nadja's Touched.

..Though I will point that Touched precedes the self titled by a few years. Still, it's freaking awesome stuff.
