Looks just like the sun - Broken Social Scene

Quote (75% through the song)
"Kevin after this"

^ I don't know why I love that part of the song so much.
I always thought he said "come in after this". But that makes sense too. Hrmm.

Fucked Up- Hidden World

Toronto Hardcore Band, and one of the most mysterious bands you will ever hear. Not mysterious like GWAR "Are they serious?" mysterious, or ? and the Mysterians- I mean intricate, complex layerings, punk songs that routinely exceed 5 minutes, and make reference to Biblical verses as well as the works of Henry Darger.

From a German interview-"Fucked Up sounds like the guy who stood in front of that tank in Tiennamen square, or we sound like the last breath taken by a fallen soldier after she's been shot with a Jewish-bought Kalishnikov. We sound like an eagle flying through the air at 200mp to make a kill only to fly right into a skyscraper of death and thump on the sidewalk. Our sound is like when your criminal father gets rejected for a bank loan to invest in conflict diamonds in Sierra Leon. Fucked up sounds like the sound it makes when a Black man beats a Chinese prostitute. Our sound has been described as what it must have sounded like to hear Alexander the Great call his soldiers "pussies" or Napolean call the Russian army "a bunch of faggots". An old woman once told me that to her Fucked Up sounded like the sounds her stomach made after she accidentally ate rat poison because she was senile and didn't know any better and there was no one to take care of her anyway because the rest of her family abandoned her because she is really racist and homophobic and once threw a loaf at her grandsons boyfriend at a christmas dinner because she just doesn't understand that society is changing."- 10,000 Marbles (Guitar)

I've seen the album compared, in terms of symbolism and general intent, favorably to "In an Aeroplane Over the Sea".

I am pretty sure he says "come in after this".  The alternative makes no sense.  Also, that is a really good song which I tend to underrate and skip, simply because I absolutely love Pacific Theme.

Speaking of BSS, am I the only person who absolutely loves 'Feel Good Lost'? I know it's a lot different from all other BSS and I know it's only two people but it's a damn good album. There are some beautiful instrumental pieces on there and I, for one, think it's great.

Tom Waits - The Piano Has Been Drinking (Not Me)

Great song! I just got the Small Change album from mail and I am listening to it right now. Good so far...
Waits's new stuff was kind of disapointing, I like the older albums because of the mood they create when listening to them.

This song seems out of place on That's Your Fire.  It's a lot tighter and well thought out than all of the other tracks.

Best song out of No Answer. Basically, you can stop listening to the album after this song, which is, incidentally, the first song on the album.

If there's one thing better than getting into an awesome new band through a current album, it's finding out that they have 3 previous ones that are just as good. Damn.  8-)

Teddy Wilson trio with Jo Jones: Complete Recordings, disc 1.

Copyright expiration has hit the late 50s, and we're seeing masses and masses of great jazz get reissued by specialist labels that pick up recordings that have otherwise been neglected for years. Teddy Wilson is possibly my favourite pianist, and it's hard for me to imagine anything more pleasurable than three discs of him backed by the legendary drummer Jo Jones. Sure, there's nothing revolutionary in these recordings (well, unless you count Jones's ground-breaking use of the hi-hat to keep the beat, but by the time these recordings were made he'd been doing that for over twenty years), just consistently excellent small-group swing. Sometimes elegance and taste is all you need.

I really like this band, but I think it would sound cooler with super distorted guitars instead of synths. Perhaps that's just me, though.

I've never been a huge fan of Dear You, but it does have some excelllent tunes. Sluttering is probably one of the most vicious songs i know and although it is a horrible feeling it is a feeling most people will feel at least once.

History Song - The Good, the Bad, and the Queen

Because I just rediscovered the album under a pile of stuff. And I love it, more than I realised. I sort of gave it a listen through a few times, wrote it off as something I wouldn't actively often listen to, as it was good, but nothing stood out. I don't know what was up with me at that point, I reaaaally love this album now.

Sunspot - "Neanderthal".  Their latest album, *no* relation to the Geico commercials.  Don't let Pintsize listen to the title track!  I follow these guys (two guys and a gal, actually) around when I can...

Sunspot (http://www.sunspotmusic.blogspot.com)  is a Madison-WI based power trio that describe themselves as "arena rock for geeks".  Other songs include "Prozac Girl", "Scott Backula", and "Summer Day".  I think their logo would look great on Martin's next t-shirt...

Iris DeMent: Infamous Angel.

It's cold, wet, and grey outside: country music weather. This album is just beautiful - every note, every lyric, every sentiment on it is so perfectly judged. If you watched Northern Exposure back in the day you might remember the song "Our Town", which featured in the final episode.
