...but please, no Journey.
So I'm headed off on Saturday to visit a friend in San Francisco. It's a long and boring flight from Chicago to SF, so I consult the QC Forumites for music advice. I have an mp3 player I'm taking with me, but I want to know what I should put on it I don't already have.
To give you a list of bands I like, albums I love, stuff I adore, I present you with this list. Please advise me on similar music, what else you think I'd like, what you like, or just insult my tastes. Whatever, I'm a fairly genial guy.
Please don't think I'm trying to show my indie rock cred. I'm not indie, I'm not a scenester, I'm not trying to show off how big my e-wang is. I just want some advice on stuff I'm missing out on.
Bands I Like:
The Album Leaf
Animal Collective
Arcade Fire
astrid
Band of Horses
Beck
Bright Eyes
Broken Social Scene
Built to Spill
Camera Obscura - their new album any good? I haven't gotten it yet.
CYHSY
Dandy Warhols - only recently got Thirteen Tales From Urban Bohemia and fell in love with it. I listen to it at least twice a day. What else should I get of theirs?

Idlewild
Iron & Wine
Islands
Keane
Liars

Secret Machines - is their latest disc any good? Don't have it yet.
Sigur Ros
Snow Patrol
Stereolab
Sufjan Stevens
Tapes 'n Tapes
Ted Leo - only have Hearts of Oak
The Walkmen - their latest disc as good as Bows & Arrows?
The Wrens - (Meadowlands is on my all-time top-five greatest albums list. srsly.)
TV on the Radio - only have desperate youth, bloodthirsty babes
Wolf Parade
Bands I do not like:
Pavement
Magnetic Fields
The Strokes

Non Indie-Rock Bands I Like:
Aphex Twin
The Beatles
Blues - (the genre)
Bob Dylan
Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young
Elton John
Frank Sinatra
Jazz - (Davis, Coltrane, Parker, Gillespie, etc.)

RATM
REM
Roger Waters
Rolling Stones
Smashing Pumpkins
The Who
So there's my fairly extensive list. I'm not good on keeping up with the times, music-wise. Again, please don't think I'm trying to prove my cred. I don't care about my cred. I just want more good music.
Thanks.
