but the music sucks because the keyboards don't have the cold/mechanical sound they had but a wannabe techno sound that it's pathetic for Rammstein standars.

I really like Last Plane to Jakarta (http://lastplanetojakarta.com/index.php), John Darnielle's music blog, even though most of the time I have no idea what band he's talking about.  He also has a website where he talks almost exclusively about boxing, but I'm guessing that's not what you're looking for.

the writings are never worth the time. go to google. type 'the hype machine' and click the first link to go to a page where the downloads from a lot of pages are linked to so you can download the tracks you want without having to go through dozens of useless blogs

3 of my favorites.

Edit: I wanted to start a thread about this some time ago with the intention of it being a sticky, for future generations.
So why dont we just sticky it?

Because there seems to be active recommendation threads constantly. No point in stickying what's already there anyway.
Music blogs aren't hard to find, all it takes is one google trip. Also, we just assume everyone reads at least one already anyway.

I've demanded threads be sticky'd on at least two previous occasions. No one pays attention.

Blogs:

http://youaintnopicasso.com/- very helpful, mostly indie-pop.

http://www.stereogum.com/- I hate this blog. But read it often.

http://sixeyes.blogspot.com/- So many mp3s

If you enjoy Classical music,

http://classicalconnection.blogspot.com

Loads of music. Go download the Toru Takemitsu pieces and La Monte Young's Well Tuned Piano. They save you.

And the places on Kai's list. They too are godly.

I am adding to that list http://stonedguitar.blogspot.com

Jesus Christ, thank you. Here I though I'd be having to save up for forever to shell out a zillion monies for used copies for this and his other stuff. Great site, I can also finally get my hands on some more Pandit Pran Nath as well! Much to explore.
