Hey, I'm one of those annoying people that gets a song they like and plays it to death. Therefore the only way to not do so is to have alot of good music! :D

On my quest for good music (with the help of my good friend) I have found such great bands as Linkin Park, Silverstein, Disturbed, Atreyu, In Flames, As I Lay Dying, Machine Head and Soilwork. And to a lesser Extent Nickleback and Metallica.

I would like to know what other bands do you people know of that have that same kind of sound?

Also what would you classify those bands as? (Atreyu, In Flames, As I Lay Dying)

Oh dude... you would get flamed so badly anywhere else.

Right. Very few of the bands you've listed are metal. Really really poppy metalcore perhaps.
My suggestions for similar bands but not as rubbish are as follows by genre.
Hardcore/Metalcore:
Shai Hulud
Every Time I Die
100 Demons
Ramallah
Come-back Kid
It Dies Today
ZAO
Sick Of It All
Hate Breed

Metal:
3 Inches of Blood
Opeth
Merciful Fate
Slayer
Scum
Dragonforce
Iron Maiden

I'm not the best at this but there's a good range of metal, hardcore and metalcore. Others will be along to help you in a minute.

Edit: Added more hardcore.

Whats Metalcore anyways?

I listened to some Opeth songs, but they sound to weird to me. Im not really into like music with Devil overtones. thanks for the start though.

Oh BTW what songs would you recommend?

I wouldn't really accuse Opeth of Devil overtones...

Basically any tracks by most of those bands are good. Iron Maiden I would recommend their more famous singles, 2 Minutes to Midnight, Can I play with Madness?, The Trooper, Number Of The Beast, Run To The Hills.
Slayer you should get Raining Blood and Dead Skin Mask. They could be accused of being "devil overtoned" though.

Metalcore is a combination of (you guessed it) Metal and Hardcore.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metalcore
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metalcore#Later_scene
The newer style of metalcore is probably more your thing.

Are they really bands...?

lol

After looking at that Wiki article i think my liking is definatly for thrash metal. although you say what i listen to isnt metal at all. I really like the hard sound of Disturbed's song Remember.

Had a listen to some of Every Time I die.. and not to my liking.

Dude... Disturbed = not hard at all.

Metallica is about the closest to real metal you've listed.

I also just had a listen to Venom's Black Metal and its just like the slayer song i heard. All the guitars are kinda pushed to the backround and muffled... I like stuff where the music is really Up front and hard hitting.

Alright, definately listen to 3 Inches Of Blood and It Dies Today.
Try also Old Man's Child. Very powerful guitar work.
Maybe Pantera.

If you like Thrash check out these bands:

Dark Angel
Kreator
Voivoid
Early Megadeth
Sodom
Destruction
Desaster
Possesed
Witchery
Anthrax
Destroyer 666
Metal Church
The Haunted
Meshuggah
Exodus
Early Metallica
Overkill
Motorhead
Sabbat (The UK one, though the Japanese Sabbat also rock)
Later At The Gates
Carnal Forge

If you wanna get into the more melodic Death Metal side of things (like 1993   - 1999 In Flames) then check out

Euchrist
first 4 At The Gates albums ( their last album is thrash)
Amorphis
Sacramentum
Dawn
Dissection
Arch Enemy
God Dethroned
Sentenced
later Carcass

You'll probably also like:

Children of Bodom
Iced Earth
Nevermore

And I can assure you Opeth are not Satanic.

Good luck.

On my quest for good music (with the help of my good friend) I have found such great bands as Linkin Park, Silverstein, Disturbed, Atreyu, In Flames, As I Lay Dying, Machine Head and Soilwork. And to a lesser Extent Nickleback and Metallica.

I don't know, when I was into Disturbed and Machine Head I was also big into Godsmack? Maybe you should try a bit of their stuff, although a lot of it really sounds the same.

I can honestly say that Opeth is really good. I especially like the album 'Blackwater Park'. This is the first album I listened to that has Cookie Monster vocals (a term you may or may not have heard before about the roaring/grunting type vocals) and actually liked. If you're anything like me, listening to this album might take a while getting used to the vocals, but it will really broaden your horizons afterwards.

Let's see. Have you listened to any Orgy? Most people with your taste generally dig the first two albums by this band. People are really conflicted about the third, though (personally, I hated it with a passion).

Then there's also Soil (not Soilwork) which is also pretty good. I would consider this band to be halfway between Disturbed and Saliva. The songs 'Halo' and 'Breaking Me Down' are generally well received among nu-metal fans.

For the Linkin Park fan I would suggest you try and find a couple of songs by a band called 'Dry Cell'. They are Linkin Park except without the rap and with a 'harder' edge similar to Disturbed. They managed to crank out a couple of catchy riffs in their short time too.

Also, whoever suggested Pantera is completely right. Pantera is quite a bit heavier than Disturbed, but it is definately on of Disturbed's biggest influences.

If you like Nickelback and post-thrash Metallica (which is to say when they started doing songs like Enter Sandman and Hero Of The Day) you would probably like some grunge and post-grunge. I recommend Alice In Chains  and Soundgarden for the actual grunge, and for post-grunge I have to say Default and Alter Bridge (Creed sans annoying singer) are pretty okay.

Last but not least, I'd like to recommend Finntroll. At first you'll be appalled, then you'll laugh at it, then you'll start listening to it because it's amusing, and eventually the songs will get stuck in your head and you'll actually like them. Happens every time.

Take care now. Make sure to broaden your musical horizon at your own speed. Although if you have the time I suggest you look up some older bands like Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin.

Also, you might want to take note of the fact that how 'heavy' something is is not neccesarily the same as how 'loud' something is. Disturbed isn't all that heavy, but they are damned loud.

If there was a band called Angst I would be reccomending it right now.

Since there is no such band, to the best of my knowledge, I am going to tell you to go get some Refused or System of a Down, maybe Incubus even. Sounds like your cup of tea.

People have been pretty light on the flaming so um. I'ma do this for them.

Listening to Linkin Park is a pretty silly thing to do. If you really like 'em, go right ahead. But it is really really not a good thing to do. If you liked that remix album they did with all those rappers and whatsuch, check out the General Patton VS. The X-ecutioners release from last year. That shit is also a good gateway into Mr. Bungle, who you should definately be listening to.

I don't think they're quite as jerky as Meshuggah with the time and tempo changes.  But it's obvious the influence is there.  If anything, they sound to me like what would happen if Meshuggah attempted to make a pop album and failed miserably.
