I only recently discovered that there is more to David Bowie then the Ziggy Stardust era. Things happen to you when you spend several hours researching him and his music.

I think I need several more days, but let me say: He's one FASCINATING personage.

(Note: I do, in fact, dig the ziggy stardust album.)

The problem with most people knowing just Ziggy is that it's pretty much the best damn thing he ever did and anything else can end up being a disappointment.

Have you heard Heathen? I think that's one of his finest records.

I love that Bowie can still put out brilliant albums, even if they can never reach the heights of the the Eno Low-"Heroes"-Lodger era.

Edit: actually, I think Hunky Dory is his finest album

I love Bowie. I'm averse to very little of his stuff, with the exception of stuff like Somebody Up There Likes Me. It's a bit too soul-a-rific for me. My favourite stuff is like Rebel Rebel, Suffragette City, Changes, et cetera.

Hunky Dory is wonderful, but I must give props to "The Man Who Sold the World". It is woefully underappreciated.

but the music sucks because the keyboards don't have the cold/mechanical sound they had but a wannabe techno sound that it's pathetic for Rammstein standars.

^ Deservedly so, if just because Nirvana covered it on their MTV Live Unplugged album.

Oh you could go on and on about good Bowie albums (Aladdin Sane? Scary Monsters?) But the bottom line is that Hunky Dory is the best one.

Also: Bowie hair at its best.

I submit his hair in Labyrinth.

Come on, if there's something about Labyrinth Bowie to be mentioned, it's his CROTCH.

I bought Hours because it was only £1.
I cried that night, I don't know what the fuck I'm gonna do with that record.
Maybe burn it?

Hunky Dory is cool and all, but it doesn't come close to Ziggy's heights of greatness. That was the hour where the Ronson/Bowie pairing was at its finest.
