Sonic Youth is probably the greatest noise band ever. There earlier stuff is much less melodic and much more avant-garde. Though Daydream Nation is their best album and one of the best albums of all time, their early stuff, such as EVOL and EPs such as Confusion is Sex and Bad Moon Rising, are some really good nosie rock.

Ditto on the Big Black and Jesus Lizard nominations. They`re the kings of industrial, and Steve Albini is nicknamed W.B.A.--World`s Biggest Asshole.

For more melodic stuff but still equally noisy, go with Psychocandy by the Jesus and Mary Chain, Painful by Yo La Tengo, and Loveless by My Bloody Valentine (arguably the greatest noise rock album ever). Also, while not technically noise-rock New Day Rising by Hüsker Dü is an amphetamine-fueled forgotten classic.

While Fantomas aren't exactly noise rock, they are pretty awesome, and you should listen to them.
