The "Odd Song Out."
TheCourtJester:
I'm just curious, what are some of the best songs that are completely out of character for a band? Most bands have a very distinct sound, so (at least for me) it always really catches my attention when one song sounds really different. Hell, some bands get noticed because that one song catches someone's attention (Green Day's "Good Riddance?" Sublime's "What I got?").
The ones that come to mind for me are Greg Graffin (lead singer of Bad Religion) starting a solo project in folk music (and it's actually quite enjoyable, to me at least). Another is Red Hot Chili Pepper's "Road Trippin."
...and my sleep drugs are kicking in so it's your turn...GO!
EDIT : Nice catch. Anything real to contribute?

Greenday do not have a song called "Time Of Your Life"
Thnikkaman:
The cover of "Easy" by Faith No More. Man, I love that song.
(Edit: Thanks Misereatur, I forgot to mention it was a cover)
ImRonBurgundy?:
"Shipyards" by Leatherface. a punk band with a gravel-throated lead singer doing a piano ballad. doesn't get much more out of character than that.
TrueNeutral:
"Darkness" by Disturbed.
It's a ballad. On a cello.
