The "Odd Song Out."
Will:
"In Her Shadow" by Converge - it's played on this acoustic guitar that sounds like it was found in a dumpster somewhere, real ugly and broken sounding, and then Jake just kind of chants the lyrics over top of it...I love the song, but it's definately "out of character" for Converge
SpacemanSpiff:
Arctic Exhibition by Mínus on the album Jesus Christ Bobby. Basically, this album is just one big chunk of noise. Usually, screaming and guitar can't be told apart and it's generally very aggressive.
And then, right in the middle of the album, you have a song that only consists of singing and an acoustic guitar.
Also, I think that Copper by Shellac is somewhat out of character because it's short, straight and almost poppy. Of course, they had to end it with feedback, so it's not completely out of character. But it does stick out.
And does Anal Cunt's Picnic of Love count? ;)
penpen17:
PJ Harvey - Good Fortune
But then, all of Stories From the City, Stories From the Sea is completely atypical of her...and it is by far my favorite of her albums.
Misereatur:
--- Quote from: Thnikkaman! ---"Easy" by Faith No More. Man, I love that song.
--- End quote ---
It's a cover, original version by The Commodores.
The Hammered:
The Stooges' We Will Fall. That's the main one that comes to mind.
