I always hear this, but neither my PS nor my PS2 ever gave me any trouble. And I played em hard.

wow i totally forgot about this post XD lol i need to clean out the closet on my forum activity! o.O... and yeah i crack it open and clean all the dust off it at regular intervats (about ever 3 months), the warrents up on it so i don't worry at all about opening it up ^.^

It was mainly the 1st gen of PS2s. To hear some of the folks on forums who worked in retail at the time of it's release some of them had a near 50% return rate on the console. They fixed most of the problems it's 2nd or 3rd wave.
It was actually bad enough Sony lost a civil suit concerning it.
