Comedy...
Mogman:
Okay, i get my fix of melodrama, and non sensical dictators slaughtering anyone who dares to be a hero from the news, so, what are peoples suggestions on good comedy shows and what not?
#1 No junk posts, put something you enjoy as a comedy and a small synopsis, none of the crap to get your post count up please!
My personal faves are:
1)Quads! - Animated TV series, loosely based on John Callahans comics, Drunken guy finds himself recently crippled and ends up with a house and a fair wad of cash from the ensuing lawsuit...
Basically right the way through political incorrectness abound, but it's people just dealing with things the only way they know how, by ruthlessly taking the piss out of everything around them, and even themselves =) Good Gear :D
2)Puppets who kill - Show out from Canada about a bunch of supposedly reformed ex-con puppets, living in a halfway house with their social worker, and just really getting into all sorts of hi-jinks
To sum it up its really about putting cutesy characters in rather adult situations and watching everything go downhill from here (If you liked Death to Smoochy, chances are you'll be a fan of this too) :)
And for good measure, a feature film
3) Death to Smoochy: Basically about the corrupt seedy underbelly of childrens programming, drugs, sex, bribes and bullshit, all convieniantly wrapped up in a bow :P
It's got Ed Norton, and Robin Williams, some people i know, just didn't get this, but really, its just about the juxtaposition and imagine-ing these guys as pure idols adored by millions of kids when in fact they're even seedier than the average pornstar :P
Thats my lot, but what are your faves?
Certainly seen a lot of black books fans around here...
Will:
Death To Smoochy was terribly underrated...it was hilarious, it was dark as all fuck, and Ed Norton played his character brilliantly.
Lines:
DEATH TO SMOOCHY! i bought that without watching it first just because i heard such good things about it. and i was very pleased.
Johnny C:
For television, I'm partial to Scrubs, The Office (both English-language versions), Mr. Show, Arrested Development, and yeah, that looks about right.
Movie-wise, Wes Anderson flicks get me every time. I also like the occassional, well-done bit of broad comedy, like Anchorman and The 40-Year-Old Virgin.
Kirbo:
Arrested Development, Futurama, Trailer Park Boys, Corner Gas and Monty Python's Flying Circus.
Movies: Python always gets me, as do Kevin Smith movies.
