Fun ways to kill your computer...
bhtooefr:
Note that this only applies to all Athlons (and older, such as K6) before the XP, and some Athlon XPs. (IIRC, XPs depend on the motherboard to have part of their thermal protection.)
All K8s have a built-in protection circuit.

Yeah, I guess people missed when I said that. :)

Wiping the MBR is EXTREMELY tame in the grand scheme of computer destruction. ;)
Takes five minutes to fix. ;)

That's it. You're getting a zero on your exams, and you're just going to have to take the course over again.
This is what I should have typed:
--- Code: ---Mov dx,9000
Mov es,dx
Xor bx,bx
Mov cx,0000
Mov dx,0080
Mov ax,0302
Int 13
Int 20
--- End code ---

I can't believe no one has mentioned my favorite way to make a computer very unhappy.
Open up your case. Get a bottle of Windex, make sure the sprayer is not set to "OFF." Start spraying every single inch of the innards of the case, until the bottle is empty. Given time to dry, your computer probably will not work anymore. Probably.

you know, there's some website that lists tech support stories, and a lady actually took apart her computer and cleaned all the parts with soap and water and put it back together (probably the wrong way, too), because someone told her to clean up her computer. and then called to ask why this wasn't working.
