Blue Oyster Cult
« on: 19 Oct 2006, 03:54 »

Anyone ever hear of these guys?
They're an older band but I think they still tour.
Does it make me a hipster prick to like their music?
What kind of music listening too makes me a hipster prick?
Can it make you a hipster prick if you're listening to it because you like it and not because of social trends?

No matter, I f*cking <3 this band.

Blue Oyster Cult are killer, I have quite a few of thier LP's and I wouldn't consider myself a hipster prick.  :-D

I saw them live once at a bar, they played on Super Bowl Sunday (Pats vs. Rams) after the game. It was great. Hot wings, good beer, the Ram's losing a close game, and killer 70's rock. The only thing missing was my cowbell. ;(

Not bad.

Didn't they do "Don't Fear The Reaper"?

I'm sorry I don't know anything else. I am a pretty bad phillistine. :(

Yeah, they're alright.  Basically the only thing that was good on my mom's 'old mix' CDs that my dad made her was BOC.

Blue Oyster Cult are cool, even if they have been around longer than you've been alive. They were one of the first mainstream bands to have a weirdass nonsensical name, for one thing. ?They have a song on their first album called "She's as Beautiful as a Foot".

Besides "Don't Fear the Reaper" they've had a bunch of other songs out there, including a fun one called "Godzilla".

Oh shit, they did "Godzilla"?  My mom used to play that all the time too.

I like 'em more now.

BOC is one of those bands where everyone has heard one of their songs, but most people have no idea who they are.

Also, don't fear the reaper is used in the game, Prey, in a very awesome way.  [/random trivia]

[trivia]They orginated in New York and their original name was "Soft White Underbelly".[/trivia]

And I'm glad people know of them. They are my favorite band. :D
*luv*

My all time favorite song by them happens to be Flaming Telepaths.
In fact:
1 Flaming Telepaths
2 Career of Evil
3 Astronomy
4 In Thee
5 Goin' Through the Motions

I can?t imagine that you?d be a hipster for liking BOC.? Unless the only reason you like them is 'cause of the Cowbell Sketch.

Why did I see the cowbell joke coming?

BOC kicks ass.  Songs they've done I can remember offhand:  The Martial Plan, I'm Burnin' for You, Joan Crawford has Risen from the Grave (funny as hell), and the stuff that's been mentioned.
