I Need Workout Music!

Good workout music! Googling the preceeding phrase yield frightening results. I don't wanna work out to Beyonce or 50 Cent, or Eye of the Tiger and so on!

I've been depending on Beastie Boys, The Go! Team, The Black Keys, Brazilian Girls, Underworld, Franz Ferdinand and a few others for some time now. Help me people! Gimme some booty-shakin' tracks to hunt down and throw into my playlist!

Workout music:
OK Go, IMA Robot, Electric Six...basically anything dancable, at least for me.

I know...which is why they wouldn't apply if someone asked for a death metal recommendation, I suspect.

However, actually reading Johnny's comment again, I discovered that Johnny expected us to look up every post where he's mentioned them, and refer us to when when it they have been brought up incorrectly.

Therefore my comment does not apply at all.

Vitalic! They always do it for some reason for me. Other weird, but good things to work out to include Turbonegro, Scissor Sisters, Peaches, Daft Punk and random hardcore and punk cds I cannot recall.

I like Death From Above 1979 for that, since it is kind of faster, kind of rocking and also sexy.

Either way you're right.

Oh also I HIGHLY recommend Stop Making Sense - Talking Heads I know if I had any desire to work out that's what I'd listen to.

LOL. Hey now, I have a deep and abiding affection for that song (for some completely bizarre reason I can't begin to understand) but it is totally inappropriate for high-impact cardio. Too slow.

Thanks guys! There's a bunch of stuff in her thus far that I hadn't thought of.

for upbeat stuff the lawrence arms-'oh calcutta' for the most part has uptempo songs that i like for gymming cardio style but for weights i like it all angry so i go with hardcore, earth crisis, avail, spazz, etc.

You talk like I agree with anything that the Black Metal Mafia did. Hell, I'm not even part of the black metal scene. I play neo-folk, dark ambient and folktronica music, write for a post-industrial website, and    my favourite bands are Sol Invictus and Skyclad. When I talk about 'my scene' I don't mean black metal, though I do love the music. Besides which you're referring to just one act by one person, whe pretty much the whole fucking indie scene is on the corporate whore train. Don't bring up Nodtheim or Vikernes either. I respect the musicianship of many people involved in black metal, because their actions, which I don't agree with or respect, do not contaminate their music. This is just shit. All this retarded post-modern affection for pop music, the corporate sponsorship deals, selling out tracks to adverts, talking cheerfully about alternative modes of commercial success. Music shops might as well sell guitars and keyboards only upon signing a contract with McDonalds in blood. They could also give away scarves and a pair of vomit-inducing sunglasses with each purchase to complete the artistically void cookie-cutter package.

What? Fuck off you uppity bastard. I've never liked you (you and your retarded cult of personality are the one thing I really detest about this forum), I've never liked soulless, ball-less, wishy-washy imagination void indie schlock and I've never liked commercialisation, so I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.

All this retarded post-modern affection for pop music, the corporate sponsorship deals, selling out tracks to adverts, talking cheerfully about alternative modes of commercial success.

I don't see what the problem is. Music is a necessary component of effective modern advertising. Why shouldn't it be good music? As long as it isn't hurting anyone - McDonalds, for reference, hurts beef and the obese - what's the big deal? And what is wrong with pop music? Can I ask that? If I want to listen to Gwen Stefani or Madonna or Robbie Williams (don't take that last one too seriously please), why can't I? Who's to say that just because it's pop it's bad?

This is really frustrating. Why don't we just tell the guy he should work out to Sloan, especially "If It Feels Good, Do It" and "Money City Maniacs"?
