if you haven't seen the movie, see it. the soundtrack alone makes the whole thing worthwhile (although it does have plenty of other great stuff about it). the soundtrack, a clint mansel/kronos quartet deal ala requiem for a dream includes mogwai this time, making it even better. the compositions are fantastic. it's easily one of the best and most beautiful film soundtracks i've ever heard.

Cartilage Head:
The movie looks very good and he concept is interesting. the art also makes me think of that of Yoshitaka Amano.

 Oh.. you were talking about the music.. well uhh.. I haven't heard any of it.

the art is fantastic. almost no cg, almost all micro-photography. the fact that the entier nebula sequence is super magnified cells, powders, and oils on petri dishes is cool beyond words.

Jooooosh:
the soundtrack was not enough to make the movie even halfway decent. sure there were pretty pictures also, but you have no clue what the fuck the filmaker is trying to tell you. Buy the soundtrack and forego the movie.

Merkava:
I thought the movie was beautiful and brilliant; the music was equally so.

I know this movie is not for everyone; Aronofsky usually divides, like a lot of art. As for not knowing what the filmmaker was trying to tell you, I felt like I was supposed to interpret for myself, rather than for the filmmaker. Instead of saying "I think Aronofsky was trying to say...", I go "To me, this meant...".

Also, I refuse to admit that Hugh Jackman is ever an astronaut in one of his reincarnations. It ruins the whole metaphysical awe of the whole thing. I thought it was a representation of his spiritual journey.

But anyway, the music. It reminded me of some modern Post-Rock, and the way it flowed throughout the movie was interesting. I was looking for ways to represent the musical/choral parts of Sakuntala and the Ring of Recollection in my IB Theatre class, and the way the omnipresent music created an ethereal mood now fits perfectly in my mind.
