I have a request
« on: 30 Nov 2006, 01:17 »

I need some good music that is nothing but guitars, drums, bass, and vocals. No other instruments. Piano is allowed, but only in moderation. I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks ^__^

I recommend Blue Cheer (by which I mean the album "Vincebus Eruptum"), Masters of Reality (specifically the album "Sunrise on the Sufferbus"), and Witch.  I also second Boris.

And hell, might as well ... you may be tired of me talking about them (if you've been listening) but Dead Meadow kicks ass.  Get the self-titled, it just get reissued.

I'm not familiar enough with any of the bands mentioned so far (for the most part) but it seems to me that people aren't taking this as a gag thread.

I don't know how anyone could think this is anything other than a gag thread.

It's not a gag? I really do need new music, and it has to be something I can play to. And I can play drums, guitar, and bass, and I can sing (poorly). This is a sincere request! ^__^

'math-rock'? I think i've been to a few of their gigs, and i remember it being... loud and chaotic. And loud. There are alot of other bands they play with alot, who are... loud. and chaotic. Is this also math rock?

I recomend you check out this band called "90% of pop/rock made in the last 60 years". They're really good.

Also, Deerhoof actually might not qualify seeing has they use a good deal of electronic stuff. Also, on the next album, horns.

There's something going around about Ted Leo playing my frat, but apparently he wants 5000 bucks, and we want to be able to pay his openers too, whoever they may end up being.  If we don't make it a heavily-advertised paid concert, we won't be able to bring him at all.

I'm not making this up, by the way.

Plus, Linkin Park sucks. Have we established this yet?? I had to hear them all the fucking time when I was in high school because they were just becoming popular and everyone thought they were so 'with it' by listening to Linkin Park. One of my good friends nearly got into a fight in a computer class because this scrawny, pathetic white kid (who spent most of the class playing rap as loud as he could) had Linkin Park on one day and refused to turn it down. Our teacher was the prototypical "bald, single, middle aged guy who likes Apple a little too much" and never did anything about this asshole. So my friend says "fuck this" and walks over to the kid's computer and turns it off. The kid instantly stands up and pushes him, so my friend pushes him back, and the teacher RUNS over between them and tells both of them to go back to work, and bans everyone from listening to music from then on out.

So when I think of Linkin Park, I not only think of terrible music, I think of pieces of shit who don't have the common decency to NOT force their music on everyone else. Linkin Park fans may think the music I like sucks, but I don't see myself or other people like me with Guided By Voices or Ween blaring from our cars.

Like 9/10 of the music I listen to is purely guitar, bass, drums and vocals probably more in fact.

I went to see Dragonforce again last night, so I am going to reccommend them. Because they rocked the socks off everyone in the crowd.

Eh, if it's anywhere near as fuckin' BIZARRE as Lemmy's project before Motorhead (the band Hawkwind), I think I'll have to pass. If it's not acid-induced space rock, however, I will go for it, because despite Lemmy was a bloody hero in the Hawkwind recordings.
