The Decemberists Vs. Stephen Colbert
« on: 01 Dec 2006, 07:58 »

http://www.pitchforkmedia.com/page/news/Video_Stephen_Colbert_Vs_The_Decemberists#39925

Read that, and then scroll up to the top!  Stephen Colbert has openly challenged the Decemberists to a green screen video battle (in which respective fans mix their two green screen videos for dominance).  The winner: uncertain.  Personally, I find this one of the most awesome things ever.  I totally think QC should make a comment about this, but I digress.  So, who would win? Colin Meloy and co., or Stephen Colbert?

After laughing myself silly with glee for several minutes...
Colbert has some of the most creative yet monstrously violent fans on Earth (myself included). I hope Colin and Co. are ready to have the most brutal parts of "The Mariner's Revenge Song" reenacted on their spines.
...mulch. hee hee.

:? um.. from my understanding... they're not really challenging eachother, Colbert is challenging people to put him into the Decemberists dealio.. so...yeah :]. anywho if they were to actually challenge one another, it's obvious that they would both just explode into tiny fragments and unite into one giant awesome-ness called "Decolberterists"? ?-end-

Because the name of the band is not The Pixies, it's just Pixies.

but it probably wouldn't have made much sense when he actually said it on the show if he had just said 'Pixies' (as opposed to it being written in the article where capitolization is a bit of an aid... I would defend Stephen Colbert to the death).

Yeah, I know, I say the Pixies all the time, and I find myself typing The Pixies all the time, too. I was just nitpicking and being a cock.

Honestly I think Colbert and The Decemberists would just end up killing each other.  They are pretty evenly matched.

On one hand you've got Colbert' super witty commentary, and on the other you've got The Decemberists' "trademark brand of hyper-literate prog rock".

I don't know guys, I just don't know.

:] ? ? well, if you would please look at the fourth post on this thread you will see why I posted what I did, no it has nothing to do with the topic "muh bad" I was simply replying to a post, that's all. And where did it say that coloured font is reserved, haha jeez, it's just a forum

-end-

OH WAIT!! so this can be relevant, again, no one is going to win because it's NOT a competition. if you read the dealio then you'll see that if anyone were to "win" the only possible person would be Colbert because he's the only one actually being entered

Colbert is just so much more cartoonishly vicious, though.

Again, Apple Muffin, I'm not trying to be mean here. I'm trying to not get you in trouble/yelled at by people less understanding. Observe:

GENERAL POSTING GUIDELINES: Whenever I post on a forum, be it this one or others, I ask myself "Is this post something someone else would want to read?" Remember, we're here to interact with and entertain each other, not to hear ourselves talk.

P.S. Stephen Colbert's totally going to kick their ass.

It say's to "interact with" others... um that's what I was doing haha replying to what some one had said... so I think that's interacting :].. "weee I win"

I myself love Colbert more than I love my selfworth so there (relevant I guess)

...but you were replying to yourself?

But anyway, the way I see it, even if Colbert's green-screen thing is poorly produced (which I have no doubt it will be), it's going to bring many lulz.

i can think of no situation in which colbert doing a terrible green screen would be anything short of intentional.

Sorry to grave dig this old topic, but I just saw a commercial on comedy central for the Colbert report episode about this guitar battle between him and the Decemberists.   11:30 on the 20th.  This is going to be amazing, I'm definitely going to record this!
