Are there any >good< covers of Kansas, Simon and Garfunkle, and Jethro Tull?

Hat:
I can't speak for everybody here, but mostly I hate the Chilli Peppers as an instinctive reaction against every shitty bassist that went to my high-school who thought Flea was the greatest thing to ever happen to the bass.

Also, that whole "sounding more mediocre and bland with every successive album thing doesn't help them either.

Ernest:
I'm not crediting MC5 with starting punk (you're right, it was the New York Dolls and the Stooges), I was just making my point.

I can understand you not liking the RHCP, but to be fair, only their early stuff is straight funk.  Their more recent stuff is funk-influenced guitar rock.  Generic?  Yes.  But it's pleasant to listen to.

Johnny C:
I'll say that By The Way was a solid record, actually, and Californication had some okay tunes.

FireStarter:
Oh....and my avatar, it's from my extensive collection of Jeremy Bernal.

Rocinante:
I may get some violent disagreement, but I liked Dream Theater's cover of "Carry on Wayward Son". It's harder, but then if you know Dream Theater, you've already figured that out. I don't think I'd say that I like it better than the original, but it's certainly well done.
