Just the other day, the debut record from Nick Cave's garage rock band Grinderman was leaked and I was wondering if any of you have heard it, and if so what are your thoughts on the record?

Myspace was, surprisingly, being a shitfuck, so I wasn't actually able to listen to the whole song, but what I heard was alright.  It's a little more repetitive than Cave's stuff with the Bad Seeds, but definately tolerable.  I'm not going to jump all over this one just because it's Nick Cave...it was alright, but nothing spectacular in my opinion*

*one that was formed after streaming about 1/2 of one song, remember...I'm willing to give this a chance.

I am not a huge Nick Cave fan, but I will buy this album on the strength of the bands facial hair alone.

How long has Nick Cave had a fucking awesome moustache for?

i think its supposed to sound like classic Birthday Party, so less literate and more rough/crazy then the Bad Seeds

Yeah, that makes sense..I'm not as familiar with Birthday Party material as I am Bad Seeds material...I'll probably check out the whole album eventually and try to get a feel for it, rather than basing whether I like it or not on just one song...

Having seen this line-up play live, I look forward to what kind of noise it can create.

I'm not normally one to do this, but link to the leak, maybe?

I'm honestly more bothered about the live release from the Abattoir tours though.

I'm exceedingly envy right now because you've seen Grinderman live. :P hehe

I've listened to the debut several times now and while it's more reminiscent of The Birthday Party than any recent Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds material, it's still very much it's own entity with its own sound. I really like the song "Vortex" and "Honey Bee".

Abattoir killed.

They're unbelievably good. They did mostly Bad Seeds stuff, and the completely unrecognisable 'West Country Girl' which opened it kind of let me know what it was going to end up sounding like.

Abattoir did indeed kill, and is my favourite Cave record.

...seriously though, where did you get this leak?

I just searched for it on Soulseek, a ton of people are sharing it.

I searched a couple of my favorite torrent 'sites for it, but it's not on any of them yet.
