Metal Karaoke

Ok, so we all know about Karaoke Revolution and Sing Star, but have they ever released a karaoke game with metal bands? And I don't mean Metallica or Pantera or anything, I mean Amon Amarth, Blind Guardian, Bal Sagoth, Summoning, Einherjer, Kamelot, Stratovarious... bands like that. Hell, even toss in some Shadows Fall or Trivium or something.

Anyway, how many of you would play this? I would, definitely.

see, the problem with that is most of those games take pitch into consideration when determining score.  admittedly i haven't heard many of the bands you mention, but i should tell you that those i have heard don't "sing" so much as scream incoherant noise into a microphone.  not that that's bad to listen to, but it would kill the casual gamer's throat, and be hard to isolate individual pitches in order to score

in short, no.  too hard and probably not enough fun

but then i prefer real Kareoke with strangers as apposed to singstar with freinds

Metal karaoke doesn't work for two reasons

1. Most people can't do the vocals right (i.e so you don't fuck you're throat)
2. The song structure isn't well suited for karaoke, not much verse chous verse sort of stuff and long instrumental breaks. Plus 90% of the audience has no idea what you're singing.

Just do what I do get drunk at home with you're records.

"And I'll fly away
Where I dwell none can say
For into darkness fell my star
In Mordor where the shadows are"

I'm just glad to see another Summoning fan on the boards, I was beginning t othink I was the only one...

I've been to a karaoke bar that had Manowar, Immortal, Whitesnake, Motley Crue, Metallica, Slayer, Judas Priest, Poison and so on in the karaoke machines. It was rather awesome but my throat was destroyed in the morning.
It also had lots of industrial and punk in the machines... bizarre Koreans...

Fuck yeah, I believe the track they had was Sons of Northern Darkness or possibly At The Heart Of Winter... I cannot recall, I was very drunk.
I do remember belting out Living After Midnight quite vividly though...

I want Bruce Dickinson in a karaoke game.  I want to hear people try "air-raid siren" vocals.  I'm thinking the beginning of "Be Quick or Be Dead" or that one part of "Infinite Dreams."   It would be utterly terrible.

I've got some horror stories about Maiden songs being butchered and only half of them involve Blaze Bayley :D

Ok thats a little harsh of me...

Me and my Mate were once determined to form a Maiden Cover band, thank got it never happened,  we would have been bloody terrible.

Surprisingly enough, one of my all-time favorite Maiden songs was a Blaze Bayley contribution, "The Sign of the Cross" the very first song on the first album he did with Maiden.  Crazily enough, as much as I love Bruce (his solo albums are some of my favorites of any genre), I still think Blaze sounds better on "Sign of the Cross" in the studio version than Bruce does on any of the live versions I've heard.

But that doesn't mean the Virtual XI album doesn't suck.  But hey, at least there's a song about Braveheart on it.
