In reading "the state of music today", the discussion between Khar and Ostrich sparked my interest - music seems to be stereotyped often for what seems to be little real reason. So I pose a question:
If you tend to dislike a genre of music in particular, why do you dislike it?
Please note that I'm looking for real answers here, spoutings of "pretentious bullshit" and "lacking in emotional value" aren't helping anyone and are gross generalisations of very varied genres of music.
To begin with, I'll say I don't like what I've heard of rap or techno. They just doesn't appeal to me thematically, technically or artisticly. In all fairness, I've not heard much of either genre and what I have heard is terribly mainstream, so I'm not a good judge on those particular genres.
