You heard it here probably fourth or fifth folks, but the new arcade fire album leaked. It's not super high quality, but this is it.

Enjoy, report back on favourite songs, etc.

I'm trying to download it. Is anyone else finding this senduit thing to be UTTER WANK?

edit: In hindsight, it was simply my security system. It blocked the download popup, then why I got that to open, explorer blocked the thing from downloading the files, meaning I had to start from scratch and the 60 second wait AGAIN.

but the music sucks because the keyboards don't have the cold/mechanical sound they had but a wannabe techno sound that it's pathetic for Rammstein standars.

"Black Mirror" and "The Well and the Lighthouse" are my favorites so far. In my opinion, it doesn't live up to funeral (did we expect it to?), but it's still good.

Bah... Old news... I got it a few days ago.

No, but really... What can I say.  It's not funeral, it's something entirely different, but it's a good album.  I happen to like what they did with "No Cars Go", having only heard it on their EP before. and I'm also quite fond of "Keep the Car Running".

Overall, I think I may actually buy this album when it comes out. (Gasp! I know...)

Then I'm going to be pleasantly surprised, since I though Funeral was average at best.

Actually I like it quite a bit more than Funeral, honestly.  "Intervention" is my favorite song so far.  "Ocean of Noise" is great too, and "Keep the Car Running".  I like the darker/more understated vibe on the whole album.  I'm glad they didn't try and make it a super-epic followup.  What is with EVERYONE getting their Springsteen on though?  "Antichrist Television Blues" is really great but it's even more of a Springsteen rip than the Killers ever dreamed of.

EDIT: I also really love "Windowsill" even with the somewhat clich? lyrics and "My Body is a Cage" is the perfect song to end the album on.

Really though it's all about the Springsteen.  "You wanna know where I was at your age?  I was workin' downtown for minimum wage".  Who knew Canada knew so much about New Jersey?

Having listened to it, I am less than impressed. It's not bad music. It's just... it's Funeral again, only not as good. And they have a whupass organ sound on 'Intervention' I think, and they totally waste it with shit chords, then it's lost in the mix later.

That's odd, I think that aside from a few moments it's quite different from Funeral.  I think Funeral was a solid 8/10 album, not as good as most people seemed to think.  I'd say Neon Bible is a 9.

Then again, after the initial impact of Funeral, I went through a phase where I thought it wasn't very good, then came back around on it.  The same might happen here.  I just think this one has better songs.

I enjoy this pretty immensely. None of the songs grabbed me like Neighbourhood #3 did, but on the whole, I think Neon Bible sits better as an album than Funeral. The reworked No Cars Go is pretty epic...definitely my favourite part as No Cars Go was my favourite AF track to begin with.

To compare the two albums directly, I think they're about equal. The first might be a little more creative, but the second is more even (because I am not all that fond of Un Annee Sans Lumiere and Haiti anymore....which breaks up Funeral a lot.) They both get 7-9/10...with the range depending on my mood.

I still think it goes
EP
Funeral
Neon Bible

They've still got to make their 'hit' album, although they do have some great songs.

I didn't like the EP. "No Cars Go" and "Vampire/Forest Fire" were good but the rest was middling. Funeral was great because they'd found their footing; in fact, I'd argue that it was their "hit" album, at least to date. If Funeral isn't one, I am unsure as to what the criteria for such an album would be.

I still say Neon Bible is a poor title for an album.

I agree with the criticism of the title. I cringe a little every time I see it. It is somehow.....cliche? I don't even know. But it's bad. I know that much.

(And this is from a girl who thought He Poos Clouds was a GREAT title.)

It's garish is what it is. He Poos Clouds is a bit absurd but there's also something delicate and dreamy about it so it totally suits the music it stands in front of.

I think Neon Bible is a very ordinary title.  I don't think it's bad or good, it's just sort of there.  But really, who cares about the title?  It would be a sad world if people liked an album more or less based on its title.

I'm really impressed by this album. I didn't like Funeral too much (I have a hard time liking super hyped albums, I can't help it) and I think this one is better. It's much denser and mysterious, and I prefer the production.

i liked parts of funeral a very large amount. all the 'neighborhood' songs are great for example. but so far i think this new one is a lot better. the songs have a much nicer feel to them. 'black waves' is fantastic. even for people who didn't really like the 1st one i'd definetly recomend this one. i haven't listened to it much obviously but i'm really liking what i've heard.

Been listening to it nonstop since yesterday.  I just keep liking it more and more.  And this is coming from someone who has probably only listened to Funeral all the way through about two dozen times.

You know what would be awesome is if they would tour with Polyphonic Spree.  Man, that would be an orgasmic show.

The tide seems to have changed here at QC towers since I first came here... that time being when I downloaded Funeral back at the start of 2005 because everyone here was raving aboot it.Now the fashion seems to be a collective "meh, I was never bought the hype."

Well i'm gonna go out on a terribly uncool limb saying I loved the first album through and through, and now I'm falling in love with the second one. Leave the car running  standing out for me. Haven't heard a weak track, unlike Haiti and In the Back Seat.

And No Cars Go, well I've not had something give me shivers like that since hearing the electric Hands Down by Dashboard.

I actually think Haiti is the best song they ever made.

I can see it as a good song for what it is, but for some reason I've always preferred Regine's voice as a compliment to Win's. I guess i was just bitter that those tracks weren't two more with Win.

Saying that, Black Waves/Bad Vibrations is killer awesome.

I was not overly impressed by the album. It was good songs start to finish, but seemed to lack the breadth of sound from Funeral. Half of the songs sounded like they came straight off an Echo and the Bunnymen or Smiths album. Very few of the tracks were captivating or memorable for me.

And the other half could have come off a Springsteen album.  That's why it is so amazing.

I could see someone not liking it as much if they do not appreciate The Boss.

First off, thanks to Johnny Katz for uploading this.

I really am enjoying this album. I'm on the end of my second run through it, and I'd have to say the songs I like best right now are "Windowsill," "Keep the Car Running," and the redux version of "No Cars Go." I do think there are a few weak songs, "Intervention" coming to mind right now, but overall, I'm pretty pleased.

I think one of the reasons I really like this is that Regine only sings backing vocals. I always found her voice to be grating; I constantly stopped Funeral after "Rebellion (Lies)" so I wouldn't have to hear her on "In the Backseat." Is this blasphemous? If so, I guess I'm a blasphemer.

I'm not completely through my first listen but I don't know if I care for it as much as Funeral, at least not yet.  Time will tell though.

Thanks for uploading this! At my college there was no way I was going to be able to download this myself and I would've driven myself insane trying to.

I'm really loving this album after a few listens, I think the only track that stands out as BAD to my ears is the title track.  Black Wave/Bad Vibes, Keep the Car Running, No Cars Go, and (Antichrist Television Blues) are my favorites at the moment.  It's really a shame that this album is likley to get a good heaping amount of undeserved flack just for being Funeral's followup.

Funeral is a great album, but it is exhausting to listen to because on nearly every track they insist on going for a huge, dramatic crescendo chorus. It's as if every song on it is fighting for its own life. When I think of Funeral I think of grand melodramatic marches. Does Neon Bible still do this??

That's the thing I love most about Funeral. It gives the entire record this huge, intense energy.

Does it need to?

I love how they've put a full stop after Funeral, and just gone on to do something different, whilst still being entirely Arcade Fire. It's not the crashing and cresting and explosions that Funeral brought, but it's packed full of fist pumping tunes that i can still imagine screaming at the top of my lungs at a concert.

i'm so glad they remade 'no cars go' on this. i wasn't a big fan of it on the ep but it's really excellent here. i've listened to the album about 5 times since yesterday and i stand by my original opinion. i agree with the statement that there are no weak tracks too. i also disliked hatii and in the back seat to the point where i would skip over them but no song makes me want to do that on the new one. it's really very excellent. i just wish i hadn't missed my chance to see them live next month.

Actually, I was hoping they wouldn't make the new album sound like Funeral. As I said, Funeral is a great album, but it's exhausting for me to listen to because it's so emotional and huge.
