I love it when new people get something wrong, are informed of it, and then do a nice passive-aggressive 'well I guess I don't know anything and I'll never post ever again EVER.'

Good times.

Not a single band that people have reccomended so far sound anything like Arcade Fire.

Really, honestly? If you like the Arcade Fire, go listen to The Talking Heads, or even solo David Byrne. He did it way better.

ohhh I like this thread(I think thats the word)- It seems all it takes for some hilarious replies to come into existence is for me to say something really obvios with a small spelling mistake and a reference to a band most people on the forum already know.... here goes...
Hey I no this is kind of off the topic, but if you like a The Arcade Fire you should listen to this band called Radiohead- they are really gud and its hard to tell waat the lyrics are so when you go to their concerts you wont need to listen to them enough to know the lerics and pretend you have liked them since the beginning! If you are interested there is a computer program called limewire that allows you to "download" musci as it were.

all this started simply because someone asked for some direction as to what music he would like if he likes Arcade Fire. Can't people just answer the question? And if you don't like the question  don't answer it. If you havn't got something good to say don't say anything at all.

Bloody hell.

As far as bands which you might enjoy if you like The Arcade Fire, you could give Bell Orchestre a try.  They are a band composed of members of the Arcade Fire, however, their music is all entirely instrumental and rather different from the music The Arcade Fire make.  Wolf Parade are another option, as they share some similarities, though those are more to do with mood and emotion as apposed to the actualy sound.  Some members of Wolf Parade did play on Funeral though.

I also think Broken Social Scene isn't all that far from The Arcade Fire sonically, though it really depends on which song you listen to.

So uh guys, just for the record, when a question comes up and someone asks listeners rather than an arcanely-regulated online encyclopedia for similar artists to a band, the policy is to act like an utter dick? Is everyone here aware that when you try and revive a very old topic angry red lettering comes up at you and says "Seriously unless you have something huge to add to this topic just start a new one?" Also to double-check everyone is aware that humans percieve time in a linear fashion and therefore it's somewhat likely that new bands and albums have come out since The Arcade Fire's last release, right?

I guess what I'm trying to say is "Good thread, everyone. We certainly won't look like unwelcoming assholes this way."

Everyone who actually tried to give this guy some suggestions, good work.

Ok now I feel kind of bad for going off topic, some people seem to take it personally and to heart. Personally if someone enjoyed Arcade Fire I would recommend Sigur Ros or The Decembirists[sic]. Man -I saw Sigur Ros in concert during the summer and it was so cool... it was sort of bad that it was at a festivel in a tent just before the Chilli Peppers played as the last act of the weekend so there were tonnes of people trying to sing along to their own version of the words and noises, though I will admit I was slightly drunk and quite likely guilty of it myself...god dammit... I am so self hating!! :-P

i know for a fact that many people who like the arcade fire really don't get the bell orchestra. i personally think they're rather good but like you said it's a totally different style of music. unless they have a more eclectic musical taste it's not all that likely that bell orchestra will be too appealing to the average *arcade fire* fan.

edit:
fixed. sorry.
