Everyones a critic
What about the tony danza tap dancing extravaganza? Me and him call it us, Botch, The End, Scarlet.
I suppose those are all shit bands too?

I like The End musically but I have trouble stomaching all that banal teenage angst and the vocals that convey it.
I think they should ditch the singer and go instrumental.

And I don't really feel the Acacia Strain are in the same league as Botch or Tony Danza at all.

While I love them, I did hate the Acacia Strain at first for the same vibe that Jrob had.  It took seeing them live to really start caring (and luckily I havent seen them recently... I hear they're down to one guitarist?  how horrible)

Rizzo, the fact that you mentioned Doom Riders makes me glad you exist!  And also, I've been hearing a lot lately about Sinking Ships, I suppose I should check them out?

Several years ago, I saw Poison The Well with 18 Visions (who are now utter shit), Shai Halud, Further Seems Forever, and Dillenger Escape Plan.  It was one of the first non-local shows I'd been to, and despite the fact that I really only like DEP anymore, it was fun and I still remember it fondly.  PTW is not anything great, but I still enjoy them from time to time.

I'd like to take a second and recommend Above This Fire as some good, sometimes cheesy, but usually awesome posi-core.

And, again, seriously, 7 Angels 7 Pluages... and Coma Eternal.

I know they are not, i just dislike it when people think its cool to shit all over someone else's musical taste.
And as for the one guitarist thing...jinkies.

Yeah def. They sound a lot like CBK and Champion but they kinda throw their own stylings in there. I have a review up on another site of it but today I'm not feeling the shameless selfpromotion vibe so PM me if you'd like a link.

With regard to The Acacia Strain, as pointless as it is to dis someone else's musical taste, it wasn't so much a dig at you as at the band themselves.
It just seems to me that there's no real structure to it. There's plenty of cool licks that they throw in but they don't actually fit into the song in any way. Then theres the fact that the melody never seems to develop beyond open chords muted e.g. jugga jugga at various tempos.
And then the subject matter and lyrics... Emotional is fine, I like emotional hardcore but whining selfindulgence is best reserved for poppy bands who can pull it off.
I've given it two listens through on my mp3 player and I can honestly say I ain't feeling it.
Hell, I'd rather listen to Dwid's "goth" band, Roses Never Fade.

It's time for you to learn a sad fact of life, son. The internet really only exists for five (5) reasons:

1: Getting FBI agents disguised as 13 year old girls to cyber with you
2: Distributing the Anarchists cookbook
3: Myspace
4: Rule 34
5: Insulting other peoples tastes

Everything else is an entirely incidental and possibly the product of a deranged imagination and/or water flouridation.

haha, i know i know. Sometimes i forget that the Internet is in fact the Internet.
And yes i agree that Acacia is somewhat limited musically.
When that realization is made, i usually just throw in The Faceless or some other desperately cool band.

nice strongbad reference
