"Can you tell a green field from a cold steel rail?, A smile from a veil?"

"I'm not sick, but im not well"

"To me,
Coming from you,
Friend is a four letter word"

"Disarm you with a smile
And cut you like you want me to
...
And what I choose is my choice
Whats a boy supposed to do?
The killer in me is the killer in you
My love
I send this smile over to you"

Stood there cursing at the soul-dead mass
with their fabled illusions, the vain dreams that passed
splinters of a life rushing by in the whirl
alone, silent warrior in a fantasy world
He cried for night  but night could not come
so, swept in the shroud of misanthropy he went away

Pardon Me - Incubus

"Now, two days ago,
I was having a look
in a book
and I saw a picture of a guy
fried up above his knees.
I said, I can relate,"
cause lately I've been thinking of combustication
as a welcomed vacation from
the burdens of
the planet Earth.
like gravity, hypocrisy,
and the perils of being in 3-D"

Bohemian Rhapsody?

I have a bunch of songs i love the lyrics to.  Like "Stardust Motel" by Andrew Norsworthy:

Quote
Stop the arguing please,
I was working on the memory,
of the rhythm of her breathing,
when she's fast a sleep.
So much sweeter than sound,
of people disagreeing.

and some Simon & Garefunkel:

Quote
And as I watched the drops of rain,
weave their weary paths and die.
I know that I am like the rain,
there but for the grace of you, go I.

basically sappy sounding, somewhat poetic stuff...

Tunnels! gosh I love this song:

"And if the snow buries my,
my neighborhood.
And if my parents are crying
then I'll dig a tunnel
from my window to yours,
yeah a tunnel from my window to yours.

You climb out the chimney
and meet me in the middle,
the middle of town.
And since there's no one else around,
we let our hair grow long
and forget all we used to know,
then our skin gets thicker
from living out in the snow.

You change all the lead
sleepin' in my head,
as the day grows dim
I hear you sing a golden hymn.
Then we tried to name our babies,
but we forgot all the names that,
the names we used to know.
But sometimes,
we remember our bedrooms,
and our parent's bedrooms,
and the bedrooms of our friends.
Then we think of our parents,
well what ever happened to them?

You change all the lead
sleepin' in my head to gold,
as the day grows dim,
I hear you sing a golden hymn,
the song I've been trying to say.
Purify the colors, purify my mind.
Purify the colors, purify my mind,
and spread the ashes of the colors
over this heart of mine!"

They're great on their own but they sound a lot more poignant and powerful in the song.

The Spill Canvas- "The Tide"
Heaven's not a place that you go when you die
It's that moment in life when you actually feel alive

Jonny Lang- "Only a Man"
I used to live my life in fear
Was worried all the time
From waking up to laying down
I had no peace of mind
The world became a darkened place
A struggle without end
And although bitter times those were
The days I had begun to understand
I was only a man

Damien Rice- "Delicate"
So why do you fill my sorrow
With the words you've borrowed
From the only place you've know
And why do you sing Hallelujah
If it means nothing to you
Why do you sing with me at all?

Ah, I lreally love that one as well. I am so insanely psyched to see them on Saturday ($10 for a ticket, baby) and I'm really looking forward to that song especially.

If any guy ever sang that for me, I would just die. In a good way. Basically I would melt.

I saw them this summer. They only sang a clip of The Tide at the end of another song and I don't really blame them for doing that. They did pretty well.

No need for greed or hunger

And the world will live as one

Senors! Mio favorito band of lyrics, she is the Silkworm.
You be saying, Senor, un minuto. Why you always talk about her, the Silkworm? We no like this Silkworm, she is the brass shit. Always with the Silkworm! Mamma Mia! You may say, some other band she is molto bello but not this Silkworm, for she is not band for me, Senor!

Is fair to say but for me, she is the Silkworm.
Senor Tim Midgett of the Silkworm, he is mio favorito. His words he is putting so many words in the sentence, she is sagging under the weight. He is breathless bambino who has run all way home to say he has seen un coniglio. He is not stopping to  take breath, he is telling you the story, the story she is funny and molto bello. Sometimes she is so so bello, story she makes you cry for her. Senor Midgett's songs are so pretty when he is to be writing about the signores. Per esempio -

Quote from: Plain
Strands of your hair fell,
Opened your eyes,
The start of a spell,
Perpetual movement,
A gleam in your eye,
The cut of your hair,
The length of your stride...

Senor Midgett, he is so amore he see all the the little bello of signore. Her capelli and her camminata, is like we see girl no?
Graci Senors.

"Across The Universe"

Words are flowing out like endless rain into a paper cup,
They slither while they pass they slip away across the universe
Pools of sorrow, waves of joy are drifting through my opened mind,
Possessing and caressing me
Jai guru de va om
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world
Images of broken light which dance before me like a million eyes,
They call me on and on across the universe,
Thoughts meander like a restless wind inside a letter box they
Tumble blindly as they make their way
Across the universe
Jai guru deva om
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world

Sounds of laughter, shades of earth are ringing
Through my open ears inciting and inviting me
Limitless undying love which shines around me like a
million suns and calls me on and on
Across the universe
Jai guru deva om
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world
Nothing's gonna change my world

Jai guru deva

I love the Beatles.

I'm not a huge fan of Punk or whatever but I admit I rellay like some of the lyrics in NOFX's "The Decline"

I wish I had a schilling
For every senseless killing
I'd buy a government
America's for sale
And you can get a good deal on it
And make a healthy profit
Or maybe, tear it apart
Start with the assumption
That a million people are smart
Smarter than one

Serotonin's gone
She gave up, drifted away
Sara fled, thought process gone
She left her answering machine on
The greeting left spoken sincere
Messages no one will ever hear

Ten thousand messages a day
A million more transmissions lay
Victims of the laissez faire
Ten thousand voices, a hundred guns
A hundred decibels turns to one
One bullet, one empty head
Now with Serotonin gone

and then later on in the same song

We are the queer
We are the whore
Ammunition
In the class war
We are the workers
We love our queen
We sacrifice
We're soilent green

First to pop into my head is Nickel Creek's "This Side":

You dream of colors that have never been made,
You imagine songs that have never been played.
They will try to buy you and your mind.
Only the curious have something to find.

It's foreign on this side,
And the truth is a bitter friend.
But reasons few have I to go back again.

Then Barenaked Ladies :

I'll be that girl -- and you would be right over
If I were a field, you would be in clover
If I were the sun, you would be in shadow
And if I had a gun, there'd be no tomorrow

and pretty much any Paul Simon, Simon and Garfunkel.
To round it out, some Jonathan Coulton:

Code Monkey have boring meeting
With boring manager Rob
Rob say Code Monkey very dilligent
But his output stink
His code not "functional" or "elegant"
What do Code Monkey think?
Code Monkey think maybe manager want to write god damned login page himself

I love lyrics! :D

In Flames- Crawl Through Knives
The black hole forever mine.
I need fear.
Push me out
Ohh be brave
Show me signs
Should I feel shame for the questions that I have

If you could be
The things I need.
I'll crawl through knives
An inch per tear.

These knives, they bleed for you.
Let the colour persuade the hate
That you fear.

Feed the lie.
Force the reason.
Leave me in doubt.
Need some motivation

It's in my hands.
The sky is so bright.
It's burning.
It's for me to return.
If flames we'll reach heaven tonight.
It's in my hands.

Nailed to the floor
Paralyzed
Emotions drifting
Touch the new

If you could be
The things I need.
I'll crawl through knives
An inch per tear.

These knives, they bleed for you.
Let the colour persuade the hate
That you fear.

No, it just sounds good.

This was unlike the story
it was written to be
I was riding its back
when it used to ride me

We were galloping manic
to the mouth of the source
we were swallowing panic
in the face of its force

~Joanna Newsom: "Peach, Plum, Pear" (To my mind, one of the best songs ever.)

It?s the second September I have known you
Four years or so ago, I rode a pony, called him ?Truth?
We didn`t know the way so it took us till today to get here

And all that time, I felt just fine
I held so many people in my suitcase heart
That I had to let the whole thing go
It was taken by the wind and snow
And I still didn?t know that I was waiting
For a girl on a slow pony home

I can remember when I first saw you
You said in my photograph I looked more far away
I laughed and smiled and didn?t say ?I am a bit afraid to be here.?

Setting free the anchor and looking past the shore
It?s a sea of horses on ships with no sails, no motors, no oars

Now we?re cleaning the windows between us two
Funny, you do it once, and then again, and pretty soon
the fingerprints and dust...
But I?ve begun to trust the view here.

~The Weepies: "Slow Pony Home"

Another favourite lyric:

Mother and father may be the other way around, I'm not sure. It doesn't make much difference.

'My father was of the sky
My mother was of the earth
But I am of the universe
And you know what it's worth'
The Beatles - Yer Blues

But I may be biased because I LOVE Lennon's scream on that last line, or on most songs.

I can't bear all this pain.
I had watched the snow
all day. Falling.
It never lets up.
All day falling.
I lifted my voice and wept out loud,
"So this is life?".

My Dying Bride -  The Snow in My Hand

Dreams drift in the frozen wind
And mysteries are reborn
We rose from sand and stone
To follow the light's allure

Tears drift in the shadows sleep
Turn innocence into excess
Fragments of a dying world
And destiny lies beneath

"I saw you in an ice-cream parlor, drinking milkshakes cold and long, smiling and waving and looking so fine, don't think you knew you were in this song." - Five Years, Bowie.

Two headed boy she is all you could need
She will feed you tomatoes and radio wires
And retire to sheets safe and clean
But don't hate her when she gets up to leave
Two Headed Boy, Pt. 2 - Neutral Milk Hotel

Really freaking beautiful, like everything on that album.

And the waitress is practicing politics
As the businessmen slowly get stoned
Yes, they're sharing a drink they call loneliness
But its better than drinkin' alone

No, not the Morissey, the gayer-than-Oscar-Wilde.

See, with you understand the Oscar Wilde reference, one would think you'd understand humour.

He was making what's called a joke, poking fun at Morrissey inferring that Morrissey is indeed gayer than Oscar Wilde, and for proof you need only look at him.

The internet ruins so many good jokes for so many good people.
