Cold War Kids and Tokyo Police Club
« on: 24 Feb 2007, 08:41 »

These two bands both just recently put out new albums (well, 6 months ago for CWK), both of which are pretty great, and now are on tour together.

Has anyone listened to either TPC - A Lesson in Crime or CWK - Robbers & Cowards yet or planning on seeing them?

I am planning on catching them when they play in Northampton. Only $15.

I've listened to CWK and i really liked them. Top song for me is We Used to Vacation.  On another thought, i liked almost the whole album.

I like Hospital Beds and Hang Me Up To Dry from CWK, haven't listened to the whole album. Never heard of the other guys.

I very much like Tokyo Police Club. Worth the $15 on their own, sez I.

A friend of mine turned me on to both, and they're playing in the Baltimore area in like a month (also for $15) so I'm probably gonna catch the show there.

I've heard all of Tokyo Police Club's "A Lesson in Crime" and liked it very much, but none of Cold War Kids besides a free download I found on the 'nets a while back. If I find the cd at the radio station I work at, I will probably be inclined to give it a spin.

Also, was the Tokyo Police Club release considered an album or an EP? I've seen it referred to as an album many times, but personally I think seven songs and sixteen minutes too short to be an album.

Both great albums.  I think I'm going to see them in Philly.

I've listened to Robbers and Cowards a bit and I mostly like it. Hospital Beds and Hang Me Up To Dry are indeed great tunes, and the drum sound across the whole album really stands out for me - very crisp and raw sounding. The singer's voice kind of starts to grate with me after a while though.

Don't know too much about the Tokyo Police Club. I think I downloaded a song of theirs a while ago... I should listen again.

I picked up Tokyo Police Club's album bundled with a few others in a torrent a while back, and really enjoyed it.  Hopefully I can find tickets when they play in Boston.

TPC are great. Their release is just an EP though. It's what, five songs, fifteen minutes? What an impressive fifteen minutes, however. "Citizens Of Tomorrow" is easily my favourite track.
