I did a quick search for this, and came up with nothing, so here goes.

What band would you travel a long distance to see? I mean, driving for hours, and what have you.

I live in a small town, but grew up in St. Louis. It's an hour drive to the south side of St. Louis, which is where my favorite club is. I drive(or ride, rather. I don't drive) that often, because I love local bands, and I love seeing any of them. But I don't consider that a long drive.

I once flew to Chicago with my mom to see Pearl Jam. They are her favorite band, and I needed to be in Chicago anyway(for school stuff). She's willing to travel any distance to see them.

I'm the same way with Cursive. I haven't travel far to see them yet, but I'd be willing to. I have on many occasions looked to see if they were playing in MO, NE, OH, NY, and/or KS, because I could travel to those places for cheap, and I have places I could spend the night there for free. I'd go to all those shows if I could afford it.

I travelled to Winnipeg in order to see Wilco. This is about a fourteen-hour round trip.

I'd have gone further if I had to.

I traveled across the entire state of Massachusetts to see Dropkick Murphys on St. Patrick's Day. I think that's like 130 miles?

Technically, I travelled 2200 miles to see Dulahan in Dayton, Ohio, but the real purpose of the trip was business and vacationing.

I'd probably go to Iceland if I could afford it to see Sigur Ros play one of those tiny local shows which always seem amazingly cool and intimate based on photos/recordings.

I went from Leeds to Amsterdam on a coach to see Submission Hold once. It was totally worth it.

I'd travel any amount of distance to catch a live Daft Punk show. I've watched sets online and all that but it's just not the same. I just don't have the funds or time off work to go overseas or Coachella last year.

I drove 8 hours for Boys Night Out and Moneen a long time ago. I would not do such a thing these days, but at the time I also was declined the hotel room I reserved because of my age (I believe 18 at that point. Weak)

If Rush don't come out here very soon, I am going to have to go see them in Japan or something. I can't imagine travelling to Europe or America to see a band though, unless I was there primarily on a holiday, and just checking out shows while I was there.

The furthest Ive ever travelled is Leeds to Manchester (about 50 miles maybe?) but I would travel further to see some bands. I am travelling to London which is about 100 miles to see Metallica but I was going to go to Belgium to see them before that. I would travel to London to see Megadeth in a couple of weeks if it wasn't in the middle of my freaking exams.

If Samael ever come to Australia I'd travel just about anywhere to see them. Same for Therion, Nargaroth and a bunch of other bands.

Just last weekend I did chicago-Louisville to see Damien Rice. In college I went up near Syracuse NY to see Phish. I traveled to Amersterdamn to see John Scofield. Actually I just "happened to be in the neighboorhood" and saw Scofield was playing at Melkweg....

1) A car
2) The time

I traveled 700 miles to see Warped Tour in Washington - primarily Underoath. It was amazing and totally worth it.

I'm in Walnut Creek right now, which is a three-and-a-half to four-hour drive from where I live, and I am going to see Arcade Fire at UC Berkeley tomorrow!
However, I did not even know this until today.
I was expecting to come up here and sulk all tomorrow night because I never get to go to the shows my sister goes to.
But I don't really consider anywhere in California "far", so whatever.

I've been to a few gigs in London, almost all with friends, and also Bournemouth (when I was on the Isle of Wight) to see Alice Cooper with my mum. I suppose the farthest I've gone to see a band is to Wacken Open Air last year (and also this year), to see a panoply of awesome bands. I'm not really organised enough to travel very far even to see bands I love. Also, this thread kind of feels like a dick-wagging contest.

Farthest I've ever gone to see a concert was about a month ago, when my girlfriend and I coaxed some friends into driving us from St. Paul to Madison to see The Decemberists (we don't have a car). We paid for one of their tickets, but it was totally worth it.
