Wacken Open Air (2007)
« on: 08 Jun 2007, 11:57 »

I just found out about this thing, and it just so happens that I'll be in Germany around that time!

Admittedly, the lineup is quite as boner-inducing as last year's (which seems to have been downright ridiculous!), but I'm still pretty damn stoked.

Anyone else going to be there?

Dude, Immortal re-union. My cock has not been soft for nearly an entire year.

Also, yes, last year was shitting insane. It makes me sad you missed it.

Man, they really need to tour the UK. I always end up giving Wacken a miss 'cos Mera Luna sucks up my 'German summer festival' fund.

Don't worry I will.

Also, line-up not interesting enough? Come off it. Sodom, Therion, Napalm Death, Immortal, 1349, Moonsorrow, Vital Remains, Samael, Suidakra...It's going to be fucking ace. Maybe not quite as good as last year, but there's certainly enough there to satisfy me. Plus it will be amazing to see some of my favourite bands back from when I started getting in to metal: Moonspell and Dimmu Borgir in particular. And seeing Immortal will have me at least as ecstatic as I was when I saw Finntroll last year.

One thing that is surprising me is that, checking my personalised running order on the Wacken website, I'm going to be seeing a lot of bands in the Headbangers Ballroom this year. Last year I saw only two (Suidakra and Vreid), but this year, 1349, Moonsorrow, Municipal Waste and Vital remains are all rocking it out.

God I would murder every single one of you to attend Wacken. As it is I'm just going to go to Sodom on Wednesday and get drunk and yell at people in German.

Edit: I am currently resisting the urge to start a "Recommend me some German phrases to yell at Sodom while they play" thread

Good to see I'm not the only one who has fond memories of Moonspell, they were also one of the first metal bands I got into, I still spin Irreligious and Sin/Pecado every now and then.

Immortal will be an awesome band to see live. They have the potential to unleash one hell of a good set list.

Man I wish I lived somewhere other then Australia...

You're right, Napalm Death, Immortal, Communic, Swallow the sun, Cannibal Corbste etc. are awesome, but for me those just aren't good enough for travelling that far.

But I'm still not sure, maybe I'll go there and maybe I'll rather go to some swiss festivals

....ooooh and I'll see CYNIC and Meshuggah in four weeks :-D

Immortal will be an awesome band to see live. They have the potential to unleash one hell of a good set list.

I'm particularly hoping for 'Damned in Black', 'Blashyrkh (Mighty Ravendark)', 'Grim and Frostbitten Kingdoms', 'Call of the Wintermoon' and 'Pure Holocaust'. I think I should be in luck...

Oh man, yeah, Irreligious is a brilliant album. I have one of these shitty little 512 megabyte flash MP3 players, and I don't think 'Opium' has ever been off it...
