Are you talking about the Deluxe Reverb? I believe it's somewhere in the range of 20-25 watts. It should be loud enough for small venues, but if not, you can always mic it.

If you want the 40 watts, there's always the Hot Rod Deluxe. It's around the same price as the Deluxe Reverb.

I've got the slightly bigger version of the Hot Rod Deluxe, the Hot Rod Deville, and that doesn't break up on the clean until about 4, but that's way more than enough for a small venue.

The Hot Rod is awesome, but there's not much reverb built-in - you might need a pedal if you're a reverb freak like myself.

Then again, if you want a lot of clean and a lot of headroom, you could look at a Roland JC-120.  It's sort of like two independent 60-watt solid state amps in one, but I've heard it said these are the cleanest amps you'll ever hear.

Meh, that's more of a Thinline Tele than a TC-90. What with the single-cutaway and the pick-up switch on the upper bout.

It's pretty for a pop punk guitarist's signature model, though. I expected far worse.

My first non-rental guitar was a Washburn, and it served me just fine. Never played one that has been worthy of an overly negative review, and they're absolute steals at the prices they go for.

Washburn make pretty solid acoustic guitars for pretty inexpensive prices.  I haven't heard much about their electrics, but that might be because people just don't pick them up.  I don't know.

The Pickups are a Seymour Duncan Custom Custom (I know nothing of this one) and a '59 in the neck position.

It played really well at the store, but I liked it a ton better when I slapped on a new set of 10-52 Ernie Ball Slinkys. Overall, I'm really happy with it, even though the VCC system in it is utterly useless.

Well, I'm switching from bass to guitar in my band.  As a result, I'm selling all my backup basses and buying a new guitar.  Any recommendations? 

Here's the skinny- We play a type of jazzy-bluesy rock.  Our guitar tone is always straight into the amp, no distortion except for what occurs naturally, and then leave it the hell alone.  I really dig semi-hollows and thin hollowbodies, and am looking for something with some hotter pickups.  I have an Epiphone dot right now that I like, but the pickups are a little lacking and the neck is thick as hell.  I'm leaning toward an Epi Casino, though I haven't tried one yet.  I may also ask Subway guitars to make me one of their Casino clones, though I'm a little leery of buying a guitar made of used parts over the internet that I don't get to try first.  Trying to stay under $1K, and I don't care where or when it was made; vintage is good, new is good, USA, Korea, whatever...

Any semi or fully hollow recommendations you can make would be appreciated. Any thoughts?

Well, you could swap the pickups out of the Dot for some that suit your taste a bit more.

Another suggestion is the Hagstrom Viking.  It's a lot like the dot, and you can get a P90 version.  If you don't mind guitars with a bit of extra bulk on them, Gretsch make some pretty solid guitars, and pretty much all of them come with a Bigsby vibrato.  The G5122 Electromatic is pretty great.

If you want something with a little more twang, you could try a Fender '72 Telecaster Thinline Deluxe, but you'll want to swap the pots out with 500k ohm or 1MEG ohm pots.

Regardless of what I do, I am switching out the pickups in the Dot.  I've thought about some SD phat cats or something similar in that vein.  I've had my eye on a viking for a bit.  I didn't realize tehy had a model that came with p90s.  It looks nice; although I'de prefer the trapeze tailpiece.  The electromatic is a damn fine guitar for the money.  Good suggestions.

Yeah, I love the Electromatic, but it's just really bulky with the Bigsby and the massive pickup casings.

I've seen some videos on YouTube of guys running their Les Paul clones side by side with Gibson standards, and uh..they sound REALLY GOOD.

Nevermind that you can get them for a little less than Epiphones. And they look pretty fucking ace.

Yeah, they do.  I'm just a tiny bit apprehensive, 'cause it almost sounds too good to be true.  I found a video on YouTube of a dude playing the ES-335 clone into a Twin and it sounded pretty rad.

Rondo Music who carries Agile has an excellent reputation for buying quality, inexpensive guitars.  They routinely send back shipments of guitars that aren't up to snuff, and apparently are very good at customer service.  There are pros that swear by their SX basses, which are generally less than $200.  Admittedly, the pickups and hardware aren't all absolute top notch, but they are very good.

Well guys, I just took the plunge. Just moments ago, I bought a slightly used CIJ Jazzmaster off of eBay.

I know I was talking about how I'd much rather get a AVRI and everything before,

Practically every Japanese Fender I've played has been better than practically every American one.  Y're getting one with after market p/u, which are the only consideration on the jazzmaster, too.  Congratulations!

Also, I can totally second Rondo Music.  I got one of their funny jazzmaster copies because I wanted a guitar for an alternate tuning, and other than the goofy hi-sparkle finish and shoddy pickup mounting and tailpiece, it's pretty near perfect.  Not really the sort of things to consider problems on a $140 guitar.

Sounds good Tehz, Fralins are great pickups. Check the bridge thing and the buzz stop, some guitar techs fuck up Jazzmasters and Jaguars good trying to "fix" them. I personally am not a fan of buzz stops- my Jaguar came with one and it sounds livelier without, and the vibrato works better. If the bridge is stuck still I'd consider that to be a bad thing, it was designed to rock (back and forth). But as long as everything works fine you should be right.

Beastmouth, the only other consideration (electronics excluded) is the vibrato tailpiece, which is far superior on the AVRIs. It gets a lot of use on my AVRI but I never touch it on CIJs.

Despite having the buzzstop and everything, I'm still getting buzz. I'm probably gonna take Belinda (I named it already ) to a local shop and get 'er set up sometime soon; while it's there I'll probably ask for them to remove the buzzstop also, just to see what the difference is.

Can you tell where the buzz is coming from? The main source I've found is from the bridge posts vibrating against the bridge holder cups. A single layer of tape around the posts will stop this by preventing metal on metal contact. How's the guitar? Was the name choice at all influenced by Bilinda Butcher or am I way off?

recently, my neck of my Martin came off the body of my guitar (yes i dropped it).

anyway, she is all fixed but the guy who set it back up lowered the action too much... im used to high action and it is so low that its even lower than my les paul... death to this tech guy. now i have to fucking set it up again!

Generally relicing is fucking dumb when the actual guitar manufacturer does it, but I had no idea that there were people who actually (attempted) to make a living over beating the shit out of guitars. Seriously, there is something wrong with the world.

Seems to be coming from the bridge, mostly. I removed the buzzstop last night and the buzzing got much worse; the guitar plays different now also (at least it seems that way to me), so when I get it set up sometime during the next week or so I'll inquire about the bridge and probably ask if they could put the buzzstop back on. I might try heavier gauge strings also (11's, probably).

And yeah, Belinda Butcher. I felt that it was appropriate.
