I'm now fantasizing about a Tiny Terror into a Port City 2x12. Yes I am.

EDIT>>>
Quote
Daniel Klein to me:
I can supply two jacks for a stereo setup. Please let me know if you have any further question. Thanks!
hmmmmm. But then I'd need a TT and either a different power amp for the fishmans, or two TT's. Obviously I need two TT's and a 2x12 Wave Cabinet from Port City. And apparently I need about $1775. Hah. Or some anti-psychotic drugs to stave off this delusion...

So long story short, i noticed a small crack in the headstock of my Taylor 110.  I got it fixed, i just don't know if i should get it refinished.  It looks kinda cool unfinished, but if its a cheap job then i'll get it done.

(point: does anyone know how much (ballpark figure) the fix/refin will cost?)

Anyone want to see a pointless guitar/bass.

Who would even want to play something like that. It would be so fucking difficult to actually get your hand round the neck, never mind actually play the damned thing properly.

Personally I've always thought Warlocks and Mockingbirds looked pretty cool.

Have you guys seen the new Carvin Hollobodies? They look REALLY nice. Too bad Carvin's pickups are historically pretty shitty.

Personally I've always thought Hitler was pretty alright.

And that Moog guitar... holy shit, that is crazy. Hellof cool. But I bet it just has a separate Ebow for each string in each pickup. Anybody notice how it's just a regular old guitar but it's just got 'sustainer' pickups? I mean, I'm not saying this isn't badass, because it totally is. I'm just saying I'm surprised nobody came up with it earlier.

You play it like a chapman stick.

It actually has a cool-ish sound, although there's no way I'd be patient enough to learn how to play it.

As far as strange guitars go, the moog guitar is pretty tame. I mean, I don't buy seven string guitars because I don't know what to do with the seventh string, so I sure as hell wouldn't want 42 strings.

In other news, my music store just got a new shipment in today. Among the toys is a Cort acoustic electric with a satin black finish. WANT.

Did you watch the video where they show the mute function? Also
Quote
"...it is an all-analog feedback loop... it's a balanced analog servomotor feedback loop using hundreds of discrete transistors. The pickups do each have an electromagnetic driver per string, but unlike an ebow the drive is frequency-dependent as it is getting its signal from the string and then feeding this vibration back to the string, in phase for sustain and opposite phase for mute. So there's no signal processing happening to the audio... it's all analog physics happening between the pickup and the string."
(from somewheres off of the parker forum. )

And: http://moogmusic.com/moogguitar/?section=product&product_id=21129
I'd settle for a cheaper model sans gold fucking hardware and Quintuple A Maple Flame-a-roo finish. In fact, it would be much better in a simple BLACK finish. With Chrome hardware. Anyway just kind of neato.

Carvin hollowbodies
I am pretty fickle about Carvin electronics after  Maria's LB70P had to be sent back twice (the preamp poop'd). AND the bass cabinet (1x15) I bought from them had the speaker plop out a few months after getting it. They tried to BS me that it was an underpowered~voice coil problem I created. Really. With an SVT4Pro head? That amount of ass-fistery has lead me to other vendors since. And I already employ a DCM1000 power amp and two huge PA cabs from them. Having been fucked on their "warranty" in the past would lead me to order that hollow body with NO electronics and just install myself or have it done locally. If anything else craps out from them I'll just replace it with something more reliable. I still have the bass cabinet. If it were not so damned big I'd make me a custom guitar cab out of it. But easily portable, it aint.

A question: do any of you guys know how much trouble it'd be for me to install a Wilkinson trem bridge in my Stratoclone? I don't want to do it if it's going to be back-breaking shit, and I really don't want to do any routing at all because I am terrified of the possible consequences of my retardation.

Also, Gene said I might have trouble installing a Tele neck pickup into the neck pickup spot, but said he couldn't really provide specifics. Assuming that the routing is done the exact same way as the actual Fender Strat on my clone, does anybody have more specific info for me as to what I'll have to do to make it fit?

So, guys, I played a Gretsch today and I didn't absolutely hate the pickups!  I was pretty satisfied.  Apparently, the Duo Jets have single coils on them and the one I played had humbuckers.  As far as I can tell, Gretsch single coil pickups sound muddy as hell.

This is the one I played:

It sounded pretty fantastic and restored my faith in Gretsch guitars.

That is just wrong. I mean, I like 7-strings, even though I have never played one, I like SGs, so I like vipers, but never the twain should meet. I guess I just think of 7 strings as mainly a superstrat thing.

These are my two main guitars. The one on the right I bought over christmas and is made of win and awesome. The one on the left is my first electric guitar i've had for over 8 years.

Oh yeah the amp in the corner of the picture isn't the one I use, it's my old amp which i brought up so me and the bassist i jam with could both have amps without him having to drag his up the stairs to my room.

This is quite an old picture from before I moved out, it's a mexican strat which i bought about 2 or 3 years ago. I leave it at home nowadays because you can't really play metal on it, not without using loads of digital crap to get the right sound out of it. It's really nice though. Been trying to sell it for a year now, not trying very hard though.

Squier guitars have surprisingly good handling for the price you pay. Definitely not my kind of guitar though. I lack the required indie-cred, and, like B.C. Rich is just being obnoxious unless you're in Death or Slayer, Squier kind of just screams out "HEY LOOK AT ME I'M AN IDIE TIT" if you can afford a better guitar.

But mainly I just don't dig the way they sound.

By the way, that Jackson is sexmatastic.

Some of us never bashed Squier. Squier make guitars which are plenty good enough. My '72 Tele reissue is a Squier and it's just mufuckin dandy...

My friend's got the version with the P-90s, it's downright spectacular.

Coolest thing ever- my birthday is coming up and my girlfriend had me start finding basses online I would like and adding the urls to my favorites.  She's planning on picking one and having my fam and friends go in on it.  she's got good taste in gee-tars.  Right now she's actually drooling over getting me a seafoam green p-bass or an ash tele bass with a rosewood neck.  Best thing- our apartment is littered with fifteen or sixteen different guitars and basses, because frankly, I have a problem- and yet she still wants me to get more.  I love enablers.

Does anybody want to buy my SG? I'm not even kidding, you send me a check for something like $650 (if you can add $30 for shipping that's cool but it's not a necessity) and your shipping address and in a couple weeks you will have yourself a Gibson.

Jeph knows he wants an SG and it's a better price than they go for now.

So, you order the SG, you wait forever for the SG, you promptly break the SG, then wait forever for it be repaired, and now you want to get rid of it?  Maybe you could go into counseling with the SG and work through some of the issues it's put you through.  I'm sure, in time, the two of you could learn to love again.

I would if I had the 650, let me guess, the cheaper... fender model, starts with a J, is what you want the money for?
