Come on people, everybody has a favorite, and it had better be Baby.

Discuss the greatest pop group ever as well if you please.

Totally Sporty.  Besides being the most attractive and the most awesome, she's also the only one who has talent and can sing.

There is a reason she's the only one who has had a successful solo career.

I thought the Spice Girls were great around the time of their first couple of albums, but the move to trying to be all sophisticated / capture the R&B market was pretty horrific.  Rodney Jerkins is an incredible producer, but he didn't really come up with the goods there, and, really, who listened to the Spice Girls for anything but trashiness.

I went to the premiere of the Spice World movie with something like 20 friends from university.  Dumb.  We laughed a lot and had a great time.

I picked Scary Spice, looks like I'm alone on that.

I liked '1930'. The title track is the most unfeasibly ridiculous piece of noise.

Why isn't there a Merzbow Spice anyhow?

1930 is a great album but I like Music for Bondage Performance 2 better.

Also, the mainstream public won't pay to see a japanese girl in black clothing with broken tapes and mixers hitting them with wave after wave of undiluted noise. A lot of people would, actually, but not the Spice Girls audience.

Also Also, we had a thread about the best Merzbow albums. It was started by that troll from Hipinion no one wanted to block.

meh, it can only be Ginger for me. Sporty was too chavish (even before the term was coined), Scary was... um... you know..., Posh was faded into the background more aptly than the most experienced chameleon, and Baby was cute but the forehead, OH THE FOREHEAD!!! ... so it had to be Ginger for me - she was alright back then as far as I remember - had some meat on them bones...

mmm... meat, great, now I'm hungry and lunch-time is still a ways away... THANK YOU WHOEVER STARTED THIS BLOODY THREAD! MAY YOUR GREAT GRAND-CHILDREN DEVELOP A MILD COLD!!!!

Baby all the way. I had a crush on Baby Spice, and I was like 7. Or maybe a year or two older because music (even trashy kiddie British pop) takes a while to make its way down to Australia...

...is it sad that I still remember the moves to the chorus from "Stop"? I think I learnt them at a Blue Light disco. Back in the day...

As someone who has too younger Sisters I have a profound loathing of the spice girls, family trips were hell trapped in a guitar for 6 hours with endless loops of the Spice girls on cassette tape. I think the lyrics to most of there songs are still embedded in my subconscious somewhere, there only saving grace was that they were better then the backstreet boys, which I was also subjected too on a regular basis...

I mean, I have had a few really amazingly attractive American girlfriends and I am circus ugly. This leads me to believe there must be something subconcious in a certain number of Americans that says "You find slightly inbred looking, pale, calcium deficient British people sexy". Thank the heavens! Lord knows I need all the help I can get.
It's the accent. Keep it up and the American women will continue to flock.

Most Americans think that anyone with a British or Australian accent is inherently sexy.

I was told once by an Australian friend that over there, it is the other way around. That anyone with an American accent is automatically considered awesome.

I'm pretty sure she's full of it.

True story: the first time I ever masturbated completely to orgasm, it was a fantasy involving me fucking each of the Spice Girls one-by-one. I believe it was a kind of sexual version of that one Bruce Lee movie he half-finished before he died, where he has to fight his way up a tower fighting martial arts masters as he goes.
