I, wow, man. I used to watch Chris Benoit as a kid. I was never that big a fan of his, as sometimes I rooted for the other guy, sometimes him. But, the guy's entire family is dead. I'm speechless. This is insane.

No information available yet as to who did this. Could have easily have been the son (dunno how old he us), though from what I know about these crimes psychologically I doubt the mother. Possible cause if it was the father would be a divorce threat from the mother.

Wouldn't be the first time it happened with a celebrity. Phil Hartman's wife killed him before killing herself. There haven't been enough details to really get even the vaguest idea who was responsible, yet. A note of some sort'll probably pop up sooner or later.

As of 9pm my time last night, CNN/SI were reporting that Chris killed his family over the weekend, then himself on Monday.

I'm still pretty stunned at it all.

He never struck me as particularly stable, but I didn't think he was all that unstable either.

I guess he has surviving kids from another marriage as well.

I don't even know what to say, to be honest.

Man, wrestlers tend to be a little unbalanced mentally anyway. A lot of them are on steroids and cocaine and whatnot but that doesn't mean I'm not as surprised as the next guy. I never really liked Benoit myself, his character always came off as a jerk but this is incredibly sad.

I friend of mine noted on his blog RIP Chris Beniot and his family, and I got really confused. That's crazy that he and his whole family was found dead. I wish I had caught the tribute show. I still remember the Owen Hart tribute episode. Crazy.

I hate to sound like a stickler for details, but the kid was actually smothered... like in his bed with a pillow. It's just more harsh to me.

Plus, he put Bibles next to both of them after he killed them. That's just very sad.

A lot of people are screaming "roid rage," which sounds like an utter crock of shit to me. You can go a little off the deep end, but this whole thing was spread across a weekend. He killed the wife on Friday and his son late Saturday/early Sunday in his sleep, so there's no way it was a heat of the moment thing.

Allegedly, there was no note or anything and the authorities are saying they'll honestly probably never know exactly what happened.

I have never been into wrestling. I had never heard of the poor guy, but this is just really overwhelming... what kind of state would a man have to be in

Well, the kid was only seven. At that age, a lot of kids take damn near anything their parents say at face value. The mother was found in an upstairs bedroom, presumably, his dad told him she went out of town or something.

My guess is he killed the wife in some domestic dispute deal. Spent the next day processing what he had done, at which point he decided to kill himself and the kid rather than go to jail and have the child orphaned.

Frankly, I'm more disturbed by the reports that other wrestlers told the WWE that he had texted them with disturbing messages on Sunday, and the WWE didn't see the need to contact the police until Monday.

I don't get that at all.

I guess the question in my mind is: Did Benoit really need to die? If he killed himself on Monday, and the police had gone over there on Sunday night, he might still be alive. I mean, the wife and son would have still been beyond help - but maybe he at least would still be alive, and able to tell us why he did this. Maybe not, but maybe.

It's a moot point now at best, but oh well...
