Dragon quest 4 thru 6 announced for DS!
« on: 30 Jul 2007, 18:41 »

I cannot begin to tell you how happy this makes me! The chance to play DQ (A real DQ) on the DS is one of my fondest videogame wishes right now.

So far it looks like 4 will be out this winter, and the other 2 dates are to be announced. Man is this gonna screw up Japanese work schedules (For those who don't understand, look up some info on Dragon Quest 3).

SERIOUS BONERZ

If things continue like they have been, I'm never going to have to buy a next gen console. The DS is fucking pimp.

If you guys are interested in DS games, then you should cast a glance in the direction of Luminous Arc. It looks like a very good strategy game for the DS.

I think I remember hearing a long time back that they were planning on remaking DQ4 for the DS but it got scrapped.  Looks like it's back with some friends.

That's pretty awesome.  DQ4 was the last one released for the NES, right?  Where you start out as the knight guy and it has like 5 chapters with all the different characters?

I believe that's correct yes. It features the green haired hero whose gender you can choose.
If you really want some info on these games (along with all the other DQ/DW games) try out here.

This is pretty sweet news. I like dragon quest/warrior games. And I would very much enjoy one on my ds, especially after that Rocket Slime game came out, and it sucked more than Paris Hilton.

Yeah, that game does look good. I'm pretty sure it's the first strategy RPG for the system, too.

Ugh no... sadly it is not the first strategy RPG on the system. Hoshigami that evil that they dare call a game is the first strategy RPG on the system.

I was wondering when they were planning on getting these games done. I'll finally be able to play 6 without a shitty as hell translation. I swear my DS library is gonna be larger than all of my other consoles combined.

Ditto.

the thing I've noticed is that the vast number of games I've really been into lately or that I'm looking forward to have all come from Atlus.

Because Atlus keeps getting bigger and bigger, so they can publish more and better games. I think they're secretly the best publisher working in the industry, if not for the quality of the games (a lot of them are B or C level RPGs with quirky twists) then for the quality of their translations. Everybody should go check out Contact for the DS to see what I mean. The game itself is fun enough, kind of a weird stylized action RPG, but the translation is really well done.

That's the thing. Atlus, with the exception of Trauma Center, pretty much just localizes niche Japanese RPGs.

That being said, I want another Ogre Battle goddammit. I'm probably the only person on the planet who does, but man.

A new Ogre Battle would make me ecstatic. I mean, in the first one you could take over the goddamn world after selling your soul to a demon. How fucking awesome is that.

If they could make a turn-based one for the Wii or DS i would be so stoked. The only thing that wasn't totally awesome about Ogre Battle is that you couldn't directly control the units. I loved the N64 game, but it's probably 10 years old now and it's been a long time since the GBA tactics game as well, so I imagine that there's not much of a chance for a new game in the series at this point.

Tactics Ogre for Gameboy advance was really fun. It's one of the few games that has made me not miss having a continuous Final Fantasy Tactics series.
