Peer-to-Peer File Sharing Programs
0bsessions:
You forgot multiple steps in the P2P:
1.) Find P2P Program
2.) Search for Audio/Video
3.) Download File with high ratings
Compared to torrents:
1.) Find torrent program
2.) Search for torrent
3.) Download torrent with good seed to leecher ratio
I've done both for years and they are essentially the exact same process. There is really no excuse to use P2P over torrent as they are no more complicated than P2P.
Lotus:
Use torrents. Then, if you have a friend who has an Oink account do anything to get an invite from him or her. So much music it's difficult to believe. Oink's music collection shadows other torrent sites.
The relationship between P2P and security makes me uneasy, too. Reading the comments on torrent sites becomes so helpful when trying to keep your computer safe.
Kana:
For security whether P2P or Torrenting I recommend Peer Guardian 2, learn it & love it. You can configure as high or low you want it to net from IPs. I found it hilarious that the Ministry of Kuwait's IP range kept hittng my net for a torrent of Borat.

i use a couple of things, usenet, FTP, google, torrents, soulseek.
soulseek is awesome for the rarer stuff, and just feels good.
torrents for huge discographies, usually my first search, i usually use www.torrentz.com or www.toorgle.com, to search, i used to use demonoid, but with the recent problems with it in holland, i'm not sure i trust it anymore, even though i have peerguardian2 running.
i use bitcomet, used to use azureus, and am thinking of switching back, in the very beginning, i use bitlord, untill i found out that it was basically a bad knockoff of an older version of bitcomet, with spyware/adware added(seriously, check the extension protection thing, .bc? bitcomet), but because bitcomet puts some ads in the client aswell, azureus looks tempting once again, not gonna use utorrent, ever since that RIAA thing with them.
usenet is nice, but seeing as my ISP only has 5 days retention, it's not THAT useful, usually impulse downloads.
ftp, well, napalm FTP can find alot, and since it's directly from ftp channels, its fast as well.
for google i just use g2p.org, also usually direct download, easy.
gubgubkolkol:
I personally use emule for my p2p but i would recommend utorrent with mininova or tpb.
