There's a band from Portland Oregon called Red Fang who are like Sabbath meets Hot Snakes.  I saw them live a couple days after I moved to Athens I was thoroughly impressed.  Also a local Athens sludge metal/bass and drums band called Subrig Destroyer were at the same show and rocked face.

Damnit, I left my copy of Terrorizer at work.  There are bands in there that are doomy, but I cannot read it.  Because it is at work.
