desaparecidos is what happens when you strip Conor Oberst of his bright eyes character and give him a bunch of effects pedals. he makes a rock album full of poppy hooks and distorted guitars while singing about how bad homogenisation is.
I much prefer his desaparecidos character to his bright eyes character.

The Bright Eyes fan debate is interesting to me because I've noticed that Bright Eyes have two distinct kinds of fans. I will use a photo to demonstrate.
In the front is me. I have written "GRUF RHYS" on my hand in pen in the manner of a "THUG LYFE" tattoo.
To my left is a teengirl who probably cried through half the concert.
