I agree with Johnny C in that Oberst and his friends are good performers. he also has a character about his music, and whether or not you like it may depend on whether or not you like his character. some people do, some people don't.
personally, I stopped being critical of the guy when I realised I wouldn't have had the guts to do this on national television. watch that and tell me he didn't know that he was risking his career.
I can still make fun of his fans however much I want.
