Here's an answer: because people not only have, but are allowed to have and entitled to different opinions on 'good music.' And it doesn't matter how good someone's songs are, musical quality and sales are in no way related. I know a local band who have the best songs I've ever, ever heard. Why haven't you heard of them?
Well, for one thing, they don't exist. But for another, good songs =/= sales.
