Not that i know of. This was brought about by just hearing friend's conversations about how Gears of War was overrated.

I think the Halo series is rather overrated. I haven't played Halo 3 yet, though.

Well, I suppose that one could think that due to the fact that the Halo is out and everyone was automatically saying that Halo 3 is the best thing since pie, but in my opinion both games lived up to the hype and the expected delivery.

I'm not a huge shooter guy, so I wasn't totally overwhelmed by either, to be honest, but they're both good console shooters. But you're right in that they're completely different beyond the most superficial genre elements.
