Oh, I do understand that they just wanted to tour and play with their friends. That's cool and does make sense. I'm just not surprised that the crowd didn't respond well, is all. They have to expect, I think, a mediocre reception in many cases when making those kind of choices.

Children of earth. If you are underage and drink at a show and get the venue ticketed or closed because of it you should be banned from attending shows for the rest of your unnatural lives. I do not agree with the laws but other people's livelihoods are at stake. Please be considerate of venue owners and bands. Get your drink on before or after in your mom's basement. Thank you. I am doombilly; and I endorse this message.

1) Why did you quote that post?

2) The show in Toronto will be 19+, and I am 20.

3) I did not drink at the 21+ show that I went to.

Please don't assume you know things that you don't.

BrittanyMarie:
It's still a silly and I think archaic law that even if you (a minor) don't drink, the venue could lose their liquor license, and in many cases that is the only reason why the place can survive financially as a venue.

Liz forgot to mention that Jordan is hopefully a lurker on this forum by now. HI JORDAN YOUR PIZZA WAS PRETTY GOOD EVEN IF IT DID HAVE SAUERKRAUT ON IT

Holy delayed response batman! Apologies, I haven't read this thread in a few days.

Anway, I am seeing them in DC at the Black Cat. So, no Philly (sorry bout that too.)

Oh boy here goes...

First off, Flaming Lips.  Seen them 3 times now, the first at Wakarusa 2006.  I'll be seeing them in less than a week, at Summercamp, and again at Wakarusa this year - 2 weeks later.  By far my favorite live show.  Honestly, it sounds silly but Flaming Lips at Wakarusa 2006 changed my life.  I saw them before in 1993, actually, but I barely remember the show - I just remember them doing "Vaseline."  It was with STP and Butthole Surfers.  Anywho, at Wakarusa my friend had told me just a bit about their show, but I really had no idea what to expect.  It was...  amazing, and the most fun I've ever had at a concert, period.  The times since then have been cool, but I don't think anything will compare to that first show.  Last I saw them was earlier in the year or maybe last fall, don't recall, here in St. Louis.

OK other shows this year...  saw Umphrey's McGee at The Pageant, it wasn't the greatest show but they blew me away at 10klf last year.  They've always been hit or miss for me, but when they hit it is pretty amazing.

Backyard Tire Fire - saw them at Lucas School House, which is this fantastic converted schoolhouse here in St. Louis.  Very nice to see these guys in such a small venue.  The guy is a prolific songwriter, I only recognized maybe 2 of the songs they played and was just blown away.

I see Madahoochi all the time, a local / regional act here in St. Louis - they play around the midwest and at lots of the festivals, playing Waka and Summercamp this year, plus some smaller ones.  Got some YouTube videos if anyone wants to check them out, Cycle of Creation being one from last night actually.
